MB-ITS Joins Global Consortium on Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainability<\/strong><\/p>\n

St. Petersburg, Russia \u2013 May 21, 2025<\/em><\/p>\n

The Department of Business Management at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (MB-ITS) proudly announces its active participation in the Consortium of Satellite Laboratories for Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainability (SatLab Consortium)<\/strong>\u2014a global initiative aimed at promoting inclusive and impact-driven development through interdisciplinary research, education, and community-based practice.<\/p>\n

This commitment was formalized through the signing of the Consortium Manifesto<\/strong> by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Berto Mulia Wibawa, Head of the Department of Business Management ITS, during a ceremonial session held at HSE University, Saint Petersburg, Russia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The SatLab Consortium brings together an alliance of academic institutions from across the world, including:<\/p>\n

  • HSE University, Russia<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Universidad Panamericana, Mexico<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • S\u00e3o Paulo State University (UNESP), Brazil<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Indonesia<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The primary aim of this consortium is to establish a decentralized and globally connected network of satellite laboratories<\/em> that are deeply rooted in local realities, yet committed to co-producing knowledge for human-centered development. This network will foster collaborative research, student mobility, joint publications, community-based innovation, and multi-stakeholder dialogues on sustainability.<\/p>\n

    \u201cMB-ITS has long been committed to embedding social entrepreneurship within both academic and community contexts,\u201d said Dr. Berto. \u201cThrough this consortium, we aim not only to elevate the academic rigour of our programs but also to strengthen our contribution to real-world societal impact.\u201d<\/p>\n

    The collaboration is particularly aligned with MB-ITS\u2019s offering of the Social Entrepreneurship course<\/strong>, as well as its long-standing commitment to community service and the empowerment of local changemakers. In joining this initiative, MB-ITS affirms its role in advancing the Mission of Universities<\/strong>: societal transformation through education, research, and community engagement.<\/p>\n

    What This Means for ITS and Indonesia:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • For Students<\/strong>: Enhanced opportunities for international exposure, case study development, cross-cultural learning, and participation in comparative research projects.<\/li>\n
    • For Lecturers and Researchers<\/strong>: Pathways for joint research, faculty exchange, co-supervision, and access to interdisciplinary workshops and symposia.<\/li>\n
    • For Society<\/strong>: Broader outreach initiatives that will scale up local social enterprises, supported by evidence-based research and multi-stakeholder collaboration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      This global alliance is also fully aligned with the vision of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendikbudristek)<\/strong>, particularly its emphasis on “Kampus Berdampak”<\/strong>\u2014universities that go beyond teaching to actively contribute to positive, measurable impact in society.<\/p>\n

      By participating in this international manifesto, MB-ITS strengthens its commitment to shaping a better, more equitable world through collaborative leadership, social innovation, and transformative education.<\/p>\n
