LPPM ITS has Meeting Room located at the 5th Floor Research Center Building. There are 2 (two) rooms, each of which can accommodate 50-70 participants. Each room is equipped with 2 (two) LED TVs. scarcity in the future and the environmental

impacts of fossil fuels make ITS continue to

developed innovation of new and renewable energy.

ITS innovation on environmentally friendly energy

is implemented through research activities shaded

by the Research Center for Energy Studies under

the Institute for Research and Community Service

(LPPM).</span>

Energy is committed to supporting government

programs in maintaining the security and

sustainability of energy in Indonesia. This

objective is related to the National Energy

Policy as stipulated in the Energy Policy White

Paper of 2005-2025 as well as in the General Plan

of National Energy (RUEN) contained in the

government regulations.</span>

<span style=”color: #000000″>In energy

management, Research Center for Energy puts

forward the principles of fairness,

sustainability, and environmental insight. This

is completed to realize the independence and

security of national energy. The main pillar of

the Research Center for Energy is conducting

research and community service related to energy

intensification, energy diversification and

energy conservation.</span>

<span style=”color: #000000″>The Research Center

for Energy has contributed to accelerate the

development of renewable energy in Indonesia,

among them are the establishment of the Research

Center for Energy Conservation, raising the price

of fuel and electricity or reducing subsidies,

and strengthening the capacity of institutions

and human resources related to energy

development. ITS innovation in green energy comes

from water, wind, geothermal, currents and ocean

waves, solar cells, to biomass.</span></p>

#000000″>Research Center for Energy has a

collection of experts conducting research in the

field of new and renewable energy. This study

center has access to sophisticated research

facilities at the ITS Energy and Environment

Laboratory. The research instruments contained in

this laboratory include SEM-EDX, XRD, AFM, ICP-

OES, XRF, HRMS, HPLC, GC and so on related to

research needs in the field of alternative

energy. In addition, the laboratory is also

equipped with field survey equipment in the form

of laboratory cars with the ability to analyze

water, soil and air quality such as pH, DO,

content of nitrate ions, nitrite, sulfate,

ammonia and colrid, water conductivity, CO

content, CO2, NOx, SOx, moisture, dust content in

the air, vibration and noise measuring devices,

vibration measuring instruments due to

explosions, cetane and octane measuring

instruments, tools and measuring BBG

dewpoints.</span></p>

ITS is a unique combination of scientific clusters of science, engineering, business, and art. The scientific cluster provides a character for ITS as a superior university that devotes itself to the interests of the nation, science, and humanity. Research at ITS is focused on overcoming various problems faced by the Indonesia and world, ranging from climate change, energy crisis, state security, and public health and welfare. The laboratory is one of the important supporting facilities in carrying out the research process. Laboratories in ITS consist of teaching laboratories, research laboratories, service laboratories, and Laboratory Based Education (LBE). Laboratory-Based Education (LBE) is a research laboratory that has integrated tertiary educational principles, namely education, research, and community service. At ITS, there are around 181 laboratories. Only 70 laboratories have been certified by LBE. And the certified lab will be evaluated annually to maintain its LBE certification status. A laboratory to obtain an LBE certificate must meet the prescribed standards. Management of proposed laboratory submissions for LBE certified is managed by LPPM ITS. In the selection process, the time taken from the submission process to the decision making is still time-consuming, especially in the process of submission and assessment. This is due to the submission process starting with sending the LBE submission form along with the supporting data via email. The LBE form itself has quite a lot of entries that must be completed with the supporting data of the contents included.

The supporting forms and data sent via e-mail are then recapitulated and verified by the LBE reviewer team appointed by LPPM.

After the laboratory has been decided to pass the LBE certificate there is still a process for submitting the SK rector.

In 2018, ITS has planned to target 1500 indexed international publications. In order to succeed in achieving this big target, LPPM ITS initiated a new program called P3I or the International Publication Acceleration Program offered to the ITS academics who have readiness both in  competence and experience to get Scopus Indexed International Journal Publication Special Incentives that MUST publish on in 2018. This program is expected to be a trigger for lecturers/researchers to compete in conducting indexed international publications both in domestic and foreign journals that are of high quality and have a reputation. The main objective of the launching of the International Publication Acceleration Program (P3I) in 2018 is to accelerate the realization of the vision and goal of ITS to become an internationally reputable university and one of the world’s most favorite universities, while the other objectives to be achieved from this program are:

  1. Growing more enthusiasm for conducting international publications.
  2. Growing a environmentally healthy competition to be the best (fastabikhul khoirot) in the international scientific publications.
  3. Improving the culture of research collaboration to produce quality outcomes in order to be able to penetrate world-class journals.
  4. Disseminate the results of research so that they can contribute more broadly to the community.
  5. Strengthening the goal of ITS to become part of a research university
  6. Reaffirming the role of laboratories as spearhead of qualified research to produce reputable international publications

As a directing university, ITS will facilitate lecturers / researchers who have proposed scientific papers in which  they have draft of proposed paper which will be submitted to the indexed international journals / proceedings, through guidance / proof reading provided by experienced lecturers either in scientific research or publications and have high H-index in the same study. The process of conseling can involve substance of paper, writing and grammar. As a feedback, the counselor must be included as one of the authors of the submitted paper.

The aim of this research collaboration program and scientific publication is:

  1. Enhancing the role of ITS in providing guidance to researchers / lecturers in universities in internationally indexed and reputed scientific publications.
  2. Providing opportunity to lecturers / research groups from private universities which are relatively new developing in their research capabilities to be able to use the facilities and expertise, and to adopt good research culture from the ITS research group / lecturers in carrying out qualified research.
  3. Increasing research network/cooperation in IPTEK-SOSBUD with private universities in East Java through partnership system to encourage the increasing quality and quantity of researches, either in scientific publications, patents, in technology, policies (guidelines, regulations), models, or social manupulation and to provide high benefits for industries or groups of people in need.

Research Collaboration can be a form of research collaboration with the same field of study to support the priority / superior fields of each university in accordance with the National Research Master Plan (RIRN) and the National and Regional Medium Term Development Plans (RPJMN / D). In this scheme, collaboration is realized in the form of collaboration of the research team, if the chairman/host of researchers comes from ITS, the members/members of the researcher must involve personnel from partner universities and vice versa, provided that the research team’s research track record is in line with the topic research done. In this scheme, it is possible to do funding sharing, use of laboratory/studio facilities, equipment, and other tools that support the successful implementation of research. Principal matters relating to this research collaboration will be published/stated in the cooperation agreement that will be made later.

 

The main objectives of this research collaboration program and scientific publications are:

  1. Increasing the role of ITS in providing guidance to researchers/lecturers in private universities in terms of indexed and reputable international scientific publications.
  2. Providing opportunities for lecturers/groups of researchers from private universities, which are relatively new to develop the ability to research them to be able to utilize facilities and expertise, and adopt/model good research culture from groups of ITS researchers/lecturers in carrying out quality research.
  3. Increasing networking / collaborative research in the field of Science and Technology with private universities in the East Java region with a partnership system to encourage the improvement of the quality and quantity of research and its disseminated contents, both in scientific publications and patents, technology products, policies (guidelines, regulation), models, and social engineering and provide high benefits for industries or community groups in need.

Increasing the number of publications and citations of ITS lecturers is one of the main indicators to make ITS a world-class university. The number of scientific publications of ITS lecturers that have increased in the past five years is still left behind with the number of publications by a number of leading universities in Asia.

Therefore, to increase the motivation of researchers at ITS in publishing their research results in scientific journals or conference proceedings, ITS provides Scientific Publication Incentives.

Submission of incentives for international scientific publications can be made after notification from LPPM of the download results from Scopus publish on a particular month and year. Furthermore, the download results will be used by LPPM for the international publication incentive process

Researchers / Prospective Recipients of Incentives must complete the data according to what must be filled to avoid errors in the transfer of incentives to unauthorized parties.

Education tuition assistance for Postgraduate Scholarship for Researchers (BPUP) is tuition assistance for graduates of undergraduate or equivalent who have passed the ITS postgraduate entrance examination.

 

BPUP Aims :

  1. Increase access and opportunity for researchers at ITS for students who have good academic potential and are willing to become researchers
  2. Increase the number and quality of publications as a result of research output
  3. Ensure the continuity of student studies until completed and on time
  4. Improve student achievement, especially in the field of research
  5. Increase the number of researchers

 

Deadline for Granting Postgraduate Scholarships for Researchers (BPUP) :

  1. Postgraduate Scholarships for Researchers (BPUP) are given since students are designated as recipients of BPUP scholarships at Higher Education, namely 4 Semesters for Masters and 6 Semester programs for S3 programs
  2. For students who have not completed their education in accordance with the stipulated deadline, ITS can extend the cost of education sourced from legitimate funds or ask the student concerned to proceed with independent funds.

To increase the access and opportunity of research in universities and prepare Indonesian researchers who are able to produce high-quality and useful publications for the nation and people through research and publication, it is important to established Assistant Researchers and their salary.
The Research Assistant (AP) is someone who is competent in a certain field of research and selected by researchers to help with his research.
The Research Assistant (AP) is not only a PNS (government-civil apparatus) lecturers or non-PNS lecturers but also students, graduands related to the field of research and a research member.

PAP’s aims :

  1. Increase the access and opportunity of ITS researchers, so individuals who have good academic competency and are ready to be in Research Assistant (AP) are needed
  2. Increase the number and publication of IPRs, and prototypes of the amount of research output
  3. Increase the number of researchers

Rewards of  Researcher Assistants (AP) can be granted  in the form of honorariums or shcolarship through BPUP schemes.
The amount and mechanism of honorariums payment are regulated in a certain MoU between chief of research and research assistants.

For the 2018 period, a community service program (ABDIMAS) has been planned which is funded by internal ITS funds having aims to achieve several objectives:

  1. Creating a conducive atmosphere for community service activities at ITS, especially those related to implementing competencies or implementing research results.
  2. Encouraging all ITS academic staff to participate in community service activities, especially for staff who have never been involved in community service activities.
  3. Increasing the dissemination and diffusion of science and technology products from research so that they can provide high benefits to industries or community groups in need.
  4. Integrating educational activities, both at the D3, S1, S2, and S3 levels, with research and community service activities taking place at ITS

 

Community service activities are intended to provide solutions to real problems that occur in society and industry. Activities that can be funded can be grouped into 2 (two) parts, namely:

  1. RESEARCH-BASED COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES

    It is a community service activity that implements the results of research that is oriented to the general public, industry, government agencies and the ITS internal environment. The abdimas activities in this category must be in line with the leading fields of the study center and refer to the topics contained in the 2016-2020 ITS education strategic plans.

  2. REGULAR COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITY
    Community service activities that do not have to be the implementation of research results. These types of activities include training, community empowerment so that they are self-sufficient, fostering MSMEs and other activities which is not included in the three types above, but which provide benefits for the community based on the competencies possessed by ITS, not intended to generate financial benefits for service team and ITS, and need implementation funds that cannot be obtained from other sources. To ensure the achievement of community service targets, it is necessary to carry out continuous monitoring and evaluation.

  3. KKN
    KKN is a form of community service activities by students with cross-scientific and sectoral approaches at certain times and regions. Implementation of Community Service Activities usually lasts from one to two months and is located in village level areas. The Directorate General of Higher Education in Indonesia has required every tertiary institution to implement Community Service Program as an intracardiac activity that combines tri dharma tertiary institutions, namely: education, research, and community service.

The aim of the ITS Local Fund Research grant program is to encourage the achievement of the vision and goals of ITS in the research and community service, specifically:

  1. Improve the role of the laboratory as the spearhead of research activities at ITS.
  2. Increasing the capacity, role, and participation of lecturers in research activities in the laboratory, especially to create and develop track records that are sufficient and in accordance to the competencies of ITS lecturers.
  3. Improve research networks with research institutions both at home and abroad.
  4. Increasing the quantity and quality of research and its well-disseminated outcomes, in the form of scientific publications and patents, technology products, policies (guidelines, regulations), models, and social engineering as well as providing high benefits to industries or community groups in need.

 

To meet the needs of various types of research at ITS, the implementation of the research is divided into 2 (two) categories, namely the ITS Prime Research (PU-ITS) and the ITS Supporting Research (PPU-ITS). The ITS Prime Research refers to 8 (eight) ITS superior fields which are determined based on the research road map of each Study Center, other centers and are top-down in nature, while the Supporting Research is divided into 12 (twelve) types of bottom-up and mandatory research in-line with 7 (seven) superior ITS fields. The types of Prime research and supporting research are as follows:

  1. ITS Prime Research : 100-150 million / title. The output targets set are 2 (two) Scopus indexed international journals and patented in the last year.
  2. Laboratory research : 50 million / title. The output target set is 1 (one) Scopus indexed international journal
  3. Lab Based-Education Research : 50 million / title. The output target set is 1 (one) Scopus indexed international journal
  4. Research on prototype development: 60 million / title. Output targets set are 1 (one) Scopus indexed international journal and patented prototype (required)
  5. New Doctoral Research : 50 million / title. Output targets set are 1 (one) Scopus indexed international journal and patented prototype (optional)
  6. Postgraduate research : 50 million / title. The output target set is 1 (one) Scopus indexed international journal and finished Thesis / Dissertation book
  7. International Collaboration Research : 50 million /title. The output target set is 1 (one) Scopus indexed international journal
  8. Beginner Research : 50 million /title. The output target set is 1 (one) Scopus indexed international journal
  9. Research Policy Review: 50 million / title. The specified target is a policy recommendation or technology product as a policy instrument

To become a researcher of ITS local funds, lecturers/researchers must have an account at SIMPEL ITS. SIMPEL ITS is an information system built by Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) ITS to facilitate conveying information about research activities, both in the form of research and community service, starting from the process of registration, selection, to progress reports.

The following are some of the ITS External Fund Research :

Research funding from KemenristekdiktiThe Research Program held by the Directorate General of Research and Development Strengthening (Directorate of Research and Community Service) for Lecturers in Higher Education includes 3 categories namely National Competitive Research, Decentralization Research, and Assignment Research.

  3. Research Funding from other Ministries.
  4. LPDP Ministry of Finance
  5. USAID, AUSAID, JICA, ILO Toray Foundation and other sources from overseas.

Untuk periode 2018 telah direncanakan program kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (ABDIMAS) yang bersumber dari dana internal ITS, dengan maksud untuk mencapai beberapa tujuan:

  1. Menciptakan atmosfir yang kondusif bagi kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di ITS, terutama yang terkait dengan kompetensi pelaksana atau penerapan hasil penelitian.
  2. Mendorong seluruh staf akademik ITS untuk berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat, khususnya bagi staf yang belum pernah terlibat dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat.
  3. Meningkatkan diseminasi dan difusi produk IPTEKS hasil penelitian sehingga dapat memberikan manfaat yang tinggi bagi industri atau kelompok masyarakat yang membutuhkan.
  4. Mengintegrasikan kegiatan pendidikan, baik tingkat D3, S1, S2, maupun S3, dengan kegiatan penelitian dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang berlangsung di ITS.

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dimaksudkan untuk memberikan solusi terhadap permasalahan nyata yang terjadi pada masyarakat dan industri. Kegiatan yang dapat didanai bisa dikelompokkan dalam 2 (dua) bagian yaitu:

  1. KEGIATAN PENGABDIAN KEPADA MASYARAKAT YANG BERBASIS PADA PENELITIAN
    Merupakan kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat yang mengimplementasikan hasil-hasil penelitian baik yang berorientasi pada masyarakat umum, industri, instansi pemerintah maupun untuk lingkungan internal ITS. Untuk kegiatan abdimas pada kategori ini wajib inline dengan bidang unggulan pusat studi dan mengacu pada topik-topik yang dimuat dalam renstra abdimas ITS 2016-2020.
  2. KEGIATAN PENGABDIAN KEPADA MASYARAKAT YANG BERSIFAT REGULER
    Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat yang tidak harus merupakan implementasi hasil-hasil penelitian. Jenis-jenis kegiatan ini, meliputi pelatihan-pelatihan, pemberdayaan masyarakat agar mandiri, pembinaan UMKM dan kegiatan lain yang tidak termasuk dalam ketiga jenis di atas, namun bersifat memberikan manfaat bagi masyarakat berdasarkan kompetensi yang dimiliki oleh ITS, tidak dimaksudkan untuk menghasilkan keuntungan finansial bagi tim pengabdi maupun ITS, serta membutuhkan dana pelaksanaan yang tidak dapat diperoleh dari sumber lain. Untuk menjamin tercapainya target pengabdian masyarakat perlu dilakukan monitoring dan evaluasi secara berkesinambungan.

Tujuan dari program hibah Penelitian Dana Lokal ITS adalah mendorong tercapainya visi dan misi ITS di bidang penelitian dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat, khususnya:

  1. Meningkatkan peranan laboratorium sebagai ujung tombak kegiatan penelitian di ITS.
  2. Meningkatkan kapasitas, peran, dan partisipasi dosen dalam kegiatan penelitian di laboratorium, terutama untuk membuat dan mengembangkan rekam jejak yang cukup dan sesuai dengan kompetensi dosen ITS.
  3. Meningkatkan jejaring penelitian dengan institusi penelitian baik di dalam dan di luar negeri.
  4. Meningkatkan kuantitas dan kualitas riset beserta luarannya yang terdiseminasi dengan baik, berupa publikasi ilmiah maupun paten, Produk teknologi, kebijakan (pedoman, regulasi), model, dan rekayasa sosial serta memberikan manfaat yang tinggi bagi industri atau kelompok masyarakat yang membutuhkan.

Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan berbagai jenis penelitian di ITS, maka pelaksanaan penelitian dibagi menjadi 2 (dua) kategori yaitu Penelitian Unggulan ITS (PU-ITS) dan Penelitian Pendukung Unggulan ITS (PPU-ITS). Penelitian Unggulan ITS mengacu pada 8 (delapan) bidang unggulan ITS yang ditetapkan berdasarkan peta jalan penelitian masing-masing Pusat Studi, pusat lainnya dan bersifat top down, sedangkan Penelitian Pendukung Unggulan dibagi ke dalam 12 (Dua belas) jenis penelitian bottom-up dan wajib in-line dengan 7 (tujuh) bidang unggulan ITS. Adapun jenis- jenis Penelitian Unggulan dan Penelitian Pendukung Unggulan adalah sebagai berikut:

  1. Penelitian Unggulan ITS : 100-150 juta/judul. Target luaran yang ditetapkan adalah 2(dua) jurnal internasional terindeks scopus dan paten pada tahun terakhir.
  2. Penelitian Laboratorium : 50 juta/judul. Target luaran yang ditetapkan adalah 1(satu) jurnal internasional terindeks scopus
  3. Penelitian Lab-Based Education (LBE) :  50 juta/judul. Target luaran yang ditetapkan adalah 1(satu) jurnal internasional terindeks scopus
  4. Penelitian Pengembangan Prototype :  60 juta/judul. Target luaran yang ditetapkan adalah 1(satu) jurnal internasional terindeks scopus dan prototype yang dipatenkan (wajib)
  5. Penelitian Doktor Baru : 50 juta/judul. Target luaran yang ditetapkan adalah 1(satu) jurnal internasional terindeks scopus dan prototype yang dipatenkan (pilihan)
  6. Penelitian Pascasarjana : 50 juta/judul. Target luaran yang ditetapkan adalah 1(satu) jurnal internasional terindeks scopus dan buku Tesis/Disertasi yang sudah selesai
  7. Penelitian Kerjasama Internasional : 50 juta/judul. Target luaran yang ditetapkan adalah 1(satu) jurnal internasional terindeks scopus

Untuk menjadi peneliti dana lokal ITS, Dosen/Peneliti harus mempunyai akun di SIMPEL ITS. SIMPEL ITS merupakan sistem informasi yang di bangun oleh Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (LPPM) ITS untuk mempermudah menyampaikan informasi tentang kegiatan peneliti, baik yang berbentuk penelitian maupun pengabdian masyarakat, mulai dari proses pendaftaran, seleksi, hingga laporan progres.

According to the 2015 Statute, the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) as aInstitute of Technology has a vision to become a university with an international reputation in science, technology, and art. While the goal of ITS is to make a real contribution in the development of science, technology, and art for the welfare of society, especially through the activities of education, research, and community service. As aellaboration of the vision and mission, the 2015-2020 ITS Strategic Plan announced that ITS would become an internationally reputable research university in 2017. There is no standard definition for a research university, but some characteristics that characterize it include: the availability of strategic plans and research road maps superior universities are supported by research road maps at the laboratory level and research groups, the creation of a conducive atmosphere for research, the availability of facilities and funds for research, the majority of lecturers actively conduct scientific research and publications, the majority of departments have master egree programs that support research programs, and significant research whch impacts on society and the advancement of science and technology. Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPM) ITS adalah unsur pelaksana akademik yang melaksanakan sebagian tugas pokok dan fungsi ITS di bidang Penelitian dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat.

LPPM sebagaimana tertuang dalam Organisasi dan Tata Kerja ITS dalam Peraturan Rektor Nomor 10 Tahun 2016 mempunyai tugas mengelola dan mengembangkan jejaring penelitian dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat

Dalam melaksanakan tugas , LPPM menyelenggarakan fungsi:

Research Center for ICT and Robotics is the center of studywhich is under the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM). The ICT and Robotics Study Center has a vision to become a leading study center at national and international level before 2020. This vision is realized through the providing research and community service activities an information and communication technology and robotics for ITS lecturers, researchers, and students.
Research Center for ICT and Robotics has several excellent research activities to support the development of information, communication and robotics technology in Indonesia. Science, material, and nanotechnology are fields that are constantly evolving and have a better potential for future use. About Research Center for Regional Development and Community Empowerment

Research Center for Regional Development and Community Empowerment (PDPM) is one of the study centers which is under Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM ITS) which has special competencies in ​​developing community-empowerment-based regional potential. PDPM was established in 2000, starting from the collaboration between ITS and BAPPEPROV East Java related to the need to study potential identification and problems of small islands in East Java.
Supported by qualified experts, as well as reliable support teams, we were able to provide the best services on research, training, and assistance in various aspects of development. Over the past ten years, we have succeeded in developing extensive cooperation and networks both nationally and internationally through government and private institutions. In line with the vision and the goals of ITS which has made a real contribution to the development of knowledge and development, the PDPM-LPPM Study Center ITS will continue to develop itself to be able to produce quality products and services according to the needs of the community.

Research Center for Regional Development and Community Empowerment (PDPM) conducts Campus Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in the ring 1 area of ​​ITS (i.e. Keputih village, Gebang Putih, and Kejawan Putih Tambak), and Campus Goes to Kampung Dolly, ex localization. 2. Services

In addition to carrying out basic tasks, PDPM also conducts activities by involving third parties (industry, private sector, local government, international parties, and others). PDPM conducts the collection, processing, analysis, presentation of data carried out systematically and objectively to solve problems, especially in community empowerment.

3. Training

Training is intended to make the community independent,both in environment, skills, as well as economic and human resource improvement. In addition to training for the target research community, it was also conducted for teams that will carry out activities at PDPM such as training of surveyors, supervisors, scientific writing, training of trainers (ToT), and training of facilitators.

4. Mentoring

PDPM carries out assistance to the community based on the results of studies and research. This assistance is in accordance with the results of research and studies that have been carried out by PDPM.

About Research Center for Environment, Housing, and Settlement

Research Center for Environment, Housing, and Settlement is an integration of two existing study centers at ITS, i.e. The Research Center for Settlement and Environment and Research Center for Logistics and Infrastructure. The research center, which was inaugurated in 2015, works to develop research, cooperation, and service of science, technology, and art in settlement, environment, facilities, and infrastructure.

Research Center for Environment, Housing, and Settlement is a member of the Coordinating Agency for Center for Environmental Studies in Indonesia (BKPSL) which has a membership of approximately 100 environmental study centers from all over Indonesia. In 1997 and 1998, PLI Research Center served as head of the coordinating agency. While in 2016 – 2018 PLI Research Center was appointed as Coordinator of Commission for Research and Community Service of BKPSL.

Research Topics

The research roadmap is focused on three areas and one excellent research with local ITS funds. The three areas of research are as follows:

1. Settlement Field

Research activity in this field is developed by a team from the Settlement Laboratory, Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Design, and Planning (FADP) of ITS. The main research theme in the field of settlement is Sustainability, Affordability of Housing, and Human Settlement and Harmony with Nature. The objective of this research is to produce the settlement and residential design products while preserving local culture and ecosystem. Research topics in the field of environment include:

  • Village Settlement and Houses: Better housing and villages have been developed sofar. Research is directed to the preservation of villages in urban areas while maintaining local culture and wisdom, and well-managed infrastructure and environmental sanitation.
  • Land and Infrastructure: Research is directed to the regulating and developing of infrastructure in residential areas.
  • Housing by People: Research is more focused on empowering communities in residential and settlements.
  • Formal Housing and Settlements: Research is directed at new, more orderly residential development innovations and real estate area planning.
  • Social, Culture, and Environment: Research focused on the field of environmental preservation associated with social and cultural communities in the study object.
  • Strategic Settlement: Research in planning related to the pattern of population distribution, urbanization, and transmigration.
  • Housing Finance and Management: The research focuses on the areas of management and the pattern of shelter financing for the community.
  • Disaster Management: Research focuses on disaster management both for disaster mitigation and post-disaster.

2. Field of Environment

The environmental research roadmap is directed to the developing Pollution Control and Environmental Policy and Sanitation Technology. The development of pollutant technology includes three sources of pollutant aspects: pollutant contaminants; domestic and industrial liquid waste; and domestic, industrial, and toxic and dangerous solid waste. The research roadmap also conducts research in environmental and housing policy-making and the development of technology and environmental sanitation arrangements. In 2017-2019, this study focuses on handling domestic solid waste, especially handling plastic waste that cannot be reused. One alternative solution to plastic waste that cannot be reused is to destroy it through the combustion process. The environmentally friendly incineration process requires an incinerator equipped with an exhaust gas control unit. To succeed this long-term goal, research activities need to be carried out through various small research topics as follows:

  • Identify plastic wastes that cannot be reused and look for burning heat values, and research for burning techniques on plastic waste that cannot be reused to find approprate air and material ratio to achieve their own combustion conditions.
  • Research and designingan exhaust emissions control systems of waste plastic combustion that cannot be reused
  • Planning and making a prototype of an environmentally friendly incinerator consisting of an incinerator and an exhaust emission control system.

3. Infrastructure Sector

Research activities in the infrastructure sector focuses on areas such as sustainable transportation and material development for infrastructure.

Overview Research Center for Earth, Disaster, and Climate Change

 

When the disaster struck various regions in East Java, several disaster researchers of ITS gathered and formed the Center for Disaster Studies (PSB) on March 24, 2004. The establishment of the PSB was supported by Bakornas PB and the Indonesian Disaster Management Society (MPBI). In 2008 the PSB changed its name to the Center for Earth and Disaster Studies (PSKB) in the hope that it could help collect internal resources and become a research field for Geoscience experts of ITS while preparing for the establishing of several departments related to earth science. In 2012, when the climate change issue became trending topic in various parts of the world, PSKB was renamed the Research Center for Earth, Disaster and Climate Change (PSKBPI).
As an institution, PSKBPI is one of the study centers which is under the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM). This institution was established to implement the vision and goal of ITS to be able to actively participate in the development of science, technology, and art, especially in marine, settlement and energy through international quality research activities. Therefore, PSKBPI manages and utilizes all resources to participate in solving problems faced by the community, especially in disasters and climate change.
This study center continuously build awareness of disasters, especially for the ITS academics civities and generally the people in Surabaya and East Java. Therefore, PSKBPI builds a network with various stakeholders concerning in earth, disaster, and climate change both nationally, regionally and internationally. Some networks that are PSKBPI partners are: East Java Provincial Government, National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Surabaya City Satkorlak PB, Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG), MPBI, PT PRB Forum, UNICEF, UNDP, OCHA UN, UNEP, UNDAC, SCDRR, AUSAID, USAID, OXFAM, GTZ, Paklim GIZ, various NGOs and the general public.
On March 3, 2016, ITS issued a policy to restructure existing study centers under the coordination of LPPM. The Spatial Data Infrastructure Study Center (PSIDS), better known as the Spatial Data Infrastructure Development Center (PPIDS), which is an institution formed by the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), is incorporated in the PSKBPI. To facilitate coordination between researchers and facilitate the achievement of a large target of the study center, PSKBPI formed 4 (four) working groups that focus on areas of expertise under the PSKBPI. The four include: Working Groups for Earth Study, Working Groups for Disaster Studies, Working Groups for Climate Change Studies, and Working Groups for the Study of Spatial Data Infrastructure

Overview Research Center for Energy

Threats of energy scarcity in the future and the environmentally bad impacts of fossil fuels make ITS continue to innovate in developing new and renewable energy. ITS innovation in environmentally friendly energy is poured through research led by the Center for Energy Studies under the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM).
The ITS Energy Study Center commits to support government programs in maintaining energy security and energy sustainability in Indonesia. This objective is in accordance with the National Energy Policy as set out in the Energy Policy White Paper of 2005-2025 and in the General Plan for National Energy (RUEN) contained in PP. No. 22 of 2017 concerning Energy Policy for 2016-2050.
In energy management, the ITS Energy Study Center prioritizes the principles of justice, sustainability, and environmental insight. This is done so that energy independence and national energy security can be realized. The main pillar of the ITS Energy Study Center is conducting research and community service related to: Energy Intensification, Energy Diversification and Energy Conservation.
The ITS Energy Study Center contributes to accelerating the development of renewable energy in Indonesia, including establishing an Energy Conservation Center, increasing fuel and electricity prices or reducing subsidies, and strengthening institutional and human resource capacity related to energy development. ITS innovation in environmentally friendly energy comes from water, wind, geothermal, ocean currents and waves, solar cells, and biomass.


Research Topics

Excellent research at the ITS Energy Study Center is focused on three areas, namely:

1. Energy Diversification

  • The development of photovoltaic to be more effective and efficient.
  • The development of wind turbines to be more effective, efficient, and reliable.
  • Research activity in the field of electronics power to increase the contribution of local content components in the development of new and renewable energy integration.

2. Energy Intensification

  • Development of carbon capture techniques with chemical processes (capturing CO2 from plant chimneys that can be used to restore unproductive oil wells)
  • Development of carbon capture technique with physical process (capturing CO2 from generator chimney that can be used for recovery of unproductive oil wells)
  • Cooperate with relevant parties regarding the utilization of CO2 for Enhancement Oil Recovery (EOR) so that oil reserves can be proven to increase.

3. Energy Management and Energy Auditor

  • Carrying out an energy audit at the Rector’s Building, the Engineering Physics Department Building, and the Research Center Building, as a pilot project followed by most of the ITS Energy Study Center Members.
  • Sending PSE Members to take part in capacity building training held by two waves of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
  • Conduct dissemination of knowledge on energy management and energy auditors to members of the ITS Energy Study Center and to members of the Eastern Part of Indonesian University Network (EPI-Unet).
  • Collaborating with LSP Energi to implement the Energy Auditor Competency Test for industries in East Java.

Facilities

Research Center for Energy has a group of experts conducting research in the field of new and renewable energy. This study center has access to sophisticated facilities at the ITS Energy and Environment Laboratory. This laboratory has SEM-EDX, XRD, AFM, ICP-OES, XRF, HRMS, HPLC, GC, etc. which are related to research needs for alternative energy. In addition, the laboratory is also equipped with field survey equipment in the form of laboratory cars with the ability to analyze water, soil and air quality such as pH, DO, content of nitrate ions, nitrite, sulfate, ammonia and colrid, water conductivity, CO content, CO2, NOx, SOx, moisture, dust content in the air, vibration and noise measuring instruments, vibration measuring instruments due to explosions, cetane and octane measuring instruments, BBG dew point devices and measuring devices.

Overview of the Intellectual Property Rights Management Center

The Intellectual Property Rights Management Center is an Institution in ITS which was formed as the answer to the increasingly widespread violations of intellectual property rights in the university. Previously, the Intellectual Property RightsManagement Center was named Assurance of Quality Management and Protection of Intellectual Property Rights Institute (LPMP2KI).

The Intellectual Property RightsManagement Center has the main function of compiling quality standards of processes and products of education, research, and community service in  ITS, as well as managing and striving to protect the intellectual property of ITS academics.

About Halal Center

As a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, halal food and beverage products are a necessity for the people of Indonesia. But in fact, many people have difficulties in identifying halal food and beverage products.

In addition, the halal industry is growing in various countries along with the growth and distribution of the Muslim population. Answering this challenge, ITS as a leading university in Indonesia seeks to prioritize a research approach to check the halal products. This goal is implemented through Halal Studies in ITS. Moreover, the ITS Halal Study Center also plays a role in conducting research to look for substitutes for Non-Halal products that are currently used as food and medicine.

The study center was inaugurated on March 24, 2016, and was approved as a study center at ITS through the Rector’s Decree in October 24, 2016. PKH activities include education, research, analysis, providing services to the community and providing input to the government regarding halal products and regulations. PKH was formed based on complete and accurate halal information needs for Muslim communities regarding the importance of halal products. The results of PKH are expected to be easily accepted and wholelyutilized by the Indonesian Muslim community.

The Robotics Center was established at the end of 2009 and was officially launched by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on December 14, 2010. The Robotics Center managed by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) – ITS.

Automation and the use of robots in the industry and other fields that need them will increase in the future. The automation and use of robots will be very helpful in increasing the efficiency of a process so that the process will be more economical.

In terms of Robotics, ITS has pioneered the research, development, and education of national robots. This is indicated by the participation of ITS in national robot contests (KRI), regional and international. Based on this, ITS proposes a center for robotics studies, from development to applications that are expected to be very helpful to the community.

The Energy and Environment Laboratory is one of the research laboratories and services that are directly managed by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) ITS. This laboratory has the main task to support and implement superior ITS research and provide consulting services, analysis, and training in the field of energy and engineering for the community.

This laboratory was built in mid-2009. The commissioning of buildings and equipment was carried out at the end of 2009 and began operating since March 2010. The laboratory expansion has been carried out with the construction of energy laboratory II building in the ITS Research Center area with a floor area of ​​around 2400 m

The Energy and Environment Laboratory is equipped with sophisticated analytical instruments, laboratories, car labs (portable instruments) for field surveys, workshop buildings, offices for guest researchers and S3 students as well as rooms for education and training.

Pusat Studi adalah unit dibawah LPPM yang melaksanakan dan mengelola  penelitian/riset ITS sesuai dengan bidang-bidang yang tertulis dalam Organisasi dan Tata Kerja ITS dalam Peraturan Rektor ITS Nomor 10 Tahun 2016

1. Pusat Studi Energi

Pusat Studi Energi menyelenggarakan fungsi:
a. penyusunan peta jalan riset di bidang energi

d. pengelolaan dan pemberdayaan laboratorium riset di bidang kehalalan suatu produk
e. pelayanan konsultasi kepada pemerintah terkait bidang kehalalan suatu produk
f. penyediaan auditor kehalalan suatu produk untuk masyarakat
g. penyediaan peralatan dan jasa analisis kehalalan suatu produk
h. pelaksanaan pengabdian dan pelayanan kepada masyarakat di bidang kehalalan suatu produk

 

2. Pusat Publikasi Ilmiah

Kepala Pusat Publikasi Ilmiah : Ir. Ervina Ahyudanari, ME, Ph.D

Pusat Publikasi Ilmiah mempunyai tugas mengelola dan meningkatkan mutu dan jumlah jurnal online di lingkungan ITS.
Pusat Publikasi Ilmiah menyelenggarakan fungsi:
a. pengelolaan jurnal online
b. pelaksanaan akreditasi jurnal online
c. pelatihan pengelolaan dan akreditasi jurnal online
d. penyediaan informasi terkait jurnal online
e. pelaksanaan penerbitan proceeding series dari seminar di lingkungan ITS
f. pelaksanaan pengkaitan jurnal online ITS di portal dalam dan luar negeri

 

3. Pusat Pengelolaan Hak Kekayaan Intelektual

Kepala Pusat HKI : Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Irmina Kris Muwarni, M.Si

Pusat Pengelolaan Hak Kekayaan Intelektual mempunyai tugas mengelola kekayaan intelektual dan melakukan upaya perlindungan terhadap kekayaan intelektual serta menjalin kerja sama dalam bidang pengelolaan dan perlindungan kekayaan intelektual dengan berbagai instansi di dalam dan luar negeri.

Pusat Pengelolaan Hak Kekayaan Intelektual menyelenggarakan fungsi :
a. penghimpunan semua hasil karya intelektual civitas academica ITS
b. pengolahan hasil karya intelektual civitas academica ITS dan memproses hak-haknya
c. fasilitator pengurusan perlindungan terhadap karya intelektual civitas academica ITS
d. pembinaan jaringan informasi dan komunikasi dalam bidang karya intelektual civitas academica ITS dengan perguruan tinggi dan institusi di dalam maupun di luar negeri
e. pelaksanaan promosi hasil karya intelektual civitas academica ITS

Dalam hal sumber daya, LPPM ITS membawahi langsung laboratorium-laboratorium untuk mendukung keberlangsungan kegiatan penelitian maupun pengabdian masyarakat. Diantaranya yaitu :

 

1. Laboratorium Energi dan Lingkungan

Laboratorium Energi dan Lingkungan mempunyai tugas mendukung kegiatan riset, pelatihan, pengabdian, dan pelayanan kepada masyarakat di bidang energi dan lingkungan yang bersifat lintas disiplin.

 

2. Laboratorium TIK dan Robotika

Laboratorium Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi dan Robotika mempunyai tugas mendukung kegiatan riset, pelatihan, pengabdian, dan pelayanan kepada masyarakat di bidang teknologi informasi dan komunikasi dan robotika yang bersifat lintas disiplin

Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is a legal entity State University whose existence is regulated in the government’s regulation of Republic of Indonesia number 54 of 2015 concerning to the Statute of ITS.

Article 3 Act (3) Statute of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember :

The goal of ITS inresearch actively has role in the development of science and technology, especially in the fields of marine, environmental and residential, energy, as well as environmental insight of information and communication technology through global-quality research activities.

Article 21 Act (1) to (4) Statutes of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember :

  1. ITS conducts basic research, applied research, development research, and/or industrial research that is directed to produce innovations that benefit the education and excellence of the nation.
  2. Research is developed both independently by ITS and collaboration with institutions, business entities, and/or other organizations both locally and internationally.
  3. Research activities are carried out in the form of mono-discipline, multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, or transdisciplinary.
  4. Research activities are carried out by adhering to academic norms and ethics in accordance with the principles of scientific autonomy that refer to the vision, goals, and objectives of ITS, as well as the provisions of the legislation.

Article 2 Act (3) Academic Senate Regulation of ITS Number 2 2017 :

The purpose of conducting research:

  1. Actively acting in the development of science, technology, and art, especially in the fields of marine, environmental and residential areas, energy, information, and communication technology, which has environmental insight through international quality research activities
  2. Providing relevant and high-quality contributions in the development of science, technology and art for technological self-sufficient, institutional needs, national and international development
  3. Developing research that refers to national strategic needs, the sustainability of resources possessed and increased global competitive ability
  4. Developing research as a means of developing ITS human resource competencies in order to increase profession alism

 

Article 3 Act (4) Statutes of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember :

The goals of ITS in community service is to utilize all the resources which has to participate in solving the problems faced by society, industry, the central government, and local governments by promoting information and communication technology facilities.

Article 26 Acts (1) to (4) Statutes of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember :

  1. ITS  organizes community service in the form of service, empowerment, and/or cooperation with the community in accordance with the norms, ethics, and in accordance with the academic competencies they have.
  2. Community service is carried out by ITS individually and/or in groups to apply science and technology along with research results in efforts to empower the community, develop industries and regions, promote general intelligence, and educate the life of the nation.
  3. The results of community service are used to enrich learning and research and the development of science and technology.
  4. Further provisions regarding the implementation and utilization of the results of community service are regulated by the Rector’s Regulation.

SIMPEL is a management information system which is set by the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) ITS to facilitate the process of delivering information about the activities of researchers, both research and community service, starting from the registration process, submitting research proposals, selection, report monitoring and assessment, and publishing Decree having carried out activities. To participate in the research activities in ITS, researchers must have an account at SIMPEL ITS by registering as a researcher.

SIM Letter of Assignment is web-based software for the management of Research and Community Service Tasks. This application has features for drafting assignment letters, looking for assignment letter data, displaying detailed monitoring of assignment letters, correcting letters of submitted assignments, changing the status of assignment letters, updating research data files and others. This application is expected to have optimal usage within the ITS researchers.

SIMPEL merupakan sistem informasi manajemen yang dibangun oleh Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (LPPM) ITS untuk kemudahan proses penyampaian informasi tentang kegiatan peneliti, baik penelitian maupun pengabdian masyarakat, mulai dari proses pendaftaran, pengajuan proposal penelitian, seleksi, monitoring laporan dan penilaian, hingga penerbitan Surat Keputusan telah melaksanakan kegiatan. Untuk mengikuti kegiatan penelitian yang ada di ITS ini peneliti harus memiliki akun di SIMPEL ITS dengan cara mendaftar sebagai peneliti.

SIM Surat Tugas adalah perangkat lunak berbasis web untuk manajemen Surat Tugas Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat. Aplikasi ini memiliki fitur untuk membuat draft surat tugas, mencari data surat tugas, menampilkan detail pemantauan surat tugas, koreksi terhadap surat tugas yang diajukan, pengubahan status surat tugas, pemutakhiran file data penelitian dan lainnya. Menurut Statuta 2015, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) sebagai sebuah perguruan tinggi teknik memiliki visi untuk menjadi perguruan tinggi dengan reputasi internasional dalam ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan seni. Sedangkan misi ITS adalah memberikan kontribusi nyata dalam pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan seni untuk kesejahteraan masyarakat, terutama melalui kegiatan pendidikan, penelitian, dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat. Sebagai penjabaran dari visi dan misi tersebut, Rencana Strategis ITS 2015-2020 mencanangkan bahwa ITS menjadi research university yang bereputasi internasional pada 2017. Tidak ada definisi baku untuk research university, namun beberapa karakteristik yang menjadi cirinya antara lain: tersedianya rencana strategis dan peta jalan riset unggulan universitas yang didukung oleh peta jalan riset di tingkat laboratorium dan kelompok riset, terciptanya atmosfir yang kondusif bagi riset, tersedianya fasilitas dan dana untuk penelitian, mayoritas dosen secara aktif melakukan penelitian dan publikasi ilmiah, mayoritas jurusan memiliki program pascasarjana yang mendukung program riset, dan dampak riset yang signifikan bagi masyarakat maupun kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi. Rencana Strategis Penelitian Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) dimaksudkan untuk menjelaskan strategi yang ditempuh oleh ITS dalam rangka mengembangkan kegiatan penelitian di ITS dalam kurun waktu 5 sampai 10 tahun ke depan.

Bantuan biaya pendidikan Beasiswa Pascasarjana untuk Peneliti (BPUP) adalah bantuan biaya pendidikan bagi lulusan sarjana atau sederajat yang telah lulus ujian masuk pascasarjana ITS.

 

BPUP Bertujuan :

  1. Meningkatkan akses dan kesempatan peneliti di ITS bagi peserta didik yang memiliki potensi akademik baik dan bersedia menjadi peneliti
  2. Meningkatkan jumlah dan mutu publikasi sebagai hasil luaran penelitian
  3. Menjamin keberlangsungan studi mahasiswa sampai selesai dan tepat waktu
  4. Meningkatkan prestasi mahasiswa khususnya dibidang penelitian
  5. Memperbanyak jumlah peneliti

 

Batas Waktu Pemberian Beasiswa Pascasarjana untuk Peneliti (BPUP) :

  1. Beasiswa Pascasarjana untuk Peneliti (BPUP) diberikan sejak mahasiswa ditetapkan sebagai penerima beasiswa BPUP di Perguruan Tinggi, yaitu 4 Semester untuk program S2 dan 6 Semester untuk program S3
  2. Bagi mahasiswa yang belum menyelesaikan pendidikan sesuai dengan tenggang waktu yang ditetapkan, ITS dapat memperpanjang biaya pendidikan yang bersumber dari dana yang sah atau meminta mahasiswa yang bersangkutan melanjutkan dengan dana mandiri.

Untuk meningkatkan akses dan kesempatan meneliti di perguruan tinggi serta menyiapkan insan peneliti Indonesia yang mampu menghasilkan publikasi yang bermutu dan bermanfaat bagi Bangsa dan Negara melalui penelitian dan publikasi, maka perlu ditetapkan Asisten Peneliti beserta honorariumnya.

Asisten Peneliti (AP) adalah seseorang yang memiliki kompetensi terkait dengan bidang penelitian tertentu yang ditunjuk oleh ketua peneliti untuk membantu penelitiannya.

Asisten Peneliti (AP) tidak hanya yang berstatus dosen PNS atau non PNS namun bisa berstatus mahasiswa, lulusan terkait bidang penelitian dan merupakan anggota penelitian.

 

PAP bertujuan :

  1. Meningkatkan akses dan kesempatan peneliti di ITS, untuk itu diperlukan individu yang memiliki kompetensi akademik yang baik dan bersedia menjadi Asisten Peneliti (AP)
  2. Meningkatkan jumlah dan mutu publikasi, HKI, dan prototipe sebagai hasil luaran penelitian
  3. Memperbanyak jumlah peneliti

 

Imbalan Asisten Peneliti (AP) bisa diwujudkan dalam bentuk honorarium atau beasiswa melalui skema BPUP.

Besaran dan mekanisme pembayaran honorarium diatur dalam kontrak kerja secara tersendiri antara ketua peneliti dan asisten peneliti

Sebagai perguruan tinggi pembina, ITS akan memfasilitasi bagi para dosen/ peneliti pengusul publikasi ilmiah yang telah memiliki draft usulan makalah/paper yang akan di submit pada jurnal / prosiding internasional terindeks, melalui program bimbingan/pengarahan dan proof reading yang akan diberikan oleh dosen berpengalaman baik dalam penelitian maupun publikasi ilmiah serta memiliki Hindex yang tinggi serta memiliki bidang kajian yang sama. Proses pembimbingan bisa berupa perbaikan dari segi substansi/ materi, tata tulis maupun tata bahasa. Sebagai bentuk imbal baliknya, para pembina/pengarah harus dimasukkan sebagai salah satu author pada makalah yang akan di submit.

 

Tujuan utama dari program kerjasama penelitian dan publikasi ilmiah ini adalah:

  1. Meningkatkan peranan ITS dalam memberikan pembinaan kepada para peneliti/dosen di perguruan tinggi swasta dalam hal publikasi ilmiah internasional terindeks dan bereputasi.
  2. Memberikan peluang kepada dosen/kelompok peneliti dari perguruan tinggi swasta, yang relatif baru berkembang dalam kemampuan menelitinya untuk dapat memanfaatkan sarana dan keahlian, serta mengadopsi/mencontoh budaya penelitian yang baik dari kelompok peneliti/dosen ITS dalam melaksanakan penelitian yang bermutu.
  3. Meningkatkan jejaring/kerjasama penelitian di bidang IPTEKS-SOSBUD dengan perguruan tinggi swasta di wilayah jawa timur dengan sistem kemitraan untuk mendorong peningkatan kualitas dan kuantitas penelitian beserta luaranya yang terdiseminasi, baik dalam bentuk publikasi ilmiah maupun paten, Produk teknologi, kebijakan (pedoman, regulasi), model, dan rekayasa sosial serta memberikan manfaat yang tinggi bagi industri atau kelompok masyarakat yang membutuhkan.

Kerjasama Penelitian bisa berbentuk kolaborasi penelitian dengan bidang kajian yang sama untuk mendukung bidang-bidang prioritas/unggulan masing-masing perguruan tinggi sesuai dengan Rencana Induk Riset Nasional (RIRN) dan Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Nasional dan Daerah (RPJMN/D). Pada skema ini, kerjasama diwujudkan dalam bentuk kolaborasi tim peneliti, apabila ketua/host peneliti berasal dari ITS, maka untuk anggota/member peneliti harus melibatkan personil dari perguruan tinggi mitra dan berlaku sebaliknya, dengan ketentuan bahwa track record penelitian tim peneliti adalah inline dengan topik penelitian yang dikerjakan. Pada skema ini, memungkinkan untuk dilakukan sharing pendanaan, pemakaian fasilitas laboratorium/studio, peralatan dan perangkat lainnya yang mendukung keberhasilan pelaksanaan penelitian. Hal-hal prinsip yang berkaitan dengan kerjasama penelitian ini akan dimuat/dituangkan pada perjanjian kerjasama yang akan dibuat kemudian.

 

Tujuan utama dari program kerjasama penelitian dan publikasi ilmiah ini adalah:

  1. Meningkatkan peranan ITS dalam memberikan pembinaan kepada para peneliti/dosen di perguruan tinggi swasta dalam hal publikasi ilmiah internasional terindeks dan bereputasi.
  2. Memberikan peluang kepada dosen/kelompok peneliti dari perguruan tinggi swasta, yang relatif baru berkembang dalam kemampuan menelitinya untuk dapat memanfaatkan sarana dan keahlian, serta mengadopsi/mencontoh budaya penelitian yang baik dari kelompok peneliti/dosen ITS dalam melaksanakan penelitian yang bermutu.

ITS merupakan kombinasi unik antara rumpun keilmuan sains, teknik, bisnis dan seni. Rumpun keilmuan tersebut memberikan karakter bagi ITS sebagai perguruan tinggi unggul yang mengabdikan diri untuk kepentingan bangsa, ilmu pengetahuan, dan kemanusiaan. Penelitian di ITS difokuskan untuk mengatasi berbagai permasalahan yang dihadapi bangsa Indonesia dan dunia, mulai dari perubahan iklim, krisis energi, keamanan negara, serta kesehatan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Laboratorium merupakan salah satu fasilitas penunjang yang sangat penting dalam melakukan proses penelitian. Laboratorium di ITS terdiri dari laboratorium pengajaran, laboratorium penelitian, laboratorium pelayanan, dan Laboratorium Based education (LBE).Laboratorium Based education (LBE) merupakan laboratorium riset yang sudah mengintegrasikan tridharma perguruan tinggi yaitu Pendidikan, penelitian, dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat.  Di ITS, tercatat ada sekitar 181 laboratorium. Dari jumlah itu baru 70 laboratorium yang sudah tersertifikat LBE. Dimana lab yang sudah tersertifikasi akan dievaluasi setiap tahunnya untuk mempertahankan status tersertifikasi LBE nya. Sebuah laboratorium untuk mendapatkan sertifikat LBE harus memenuhi standar yang sudah ditentukan.  Pengelolaan usulan pengajuan laboratorium untuk tersertifikat LBE dikelola oleh LPPM ITS.  Dalam proses seleksinya, waktu yang diperlukan mulai dari proses pengajuan hingga penetapan keputusan masih memakan waktu yang cukup lama terutama pada proses pengajuan dan penilaian.  Hal ini disebabkan proses pengajuan diawali dengan mengirimkan formulir pengajuan LBE beserta data pendukungnya melalui email. Formulir LBE sendiri memiliki cukup banyak isian yang harus dilengkapi dengan disertakan pula data pendukung isian tersebut.

Setelah laboratorium diputuskan lulus tersertifikat LBE masih terdapat proses pengajuan SK rektor

Pada tahun 2018 ITS telah mencanangkan target publikasi internasional terindeks sebanyak 1500 paper. Dalam rangka mensukseskan pencapaian target besar ini, LPPM ITS menginisiasi program baru yang diberi nama P3I atau Program Percepatan Publikasi Internasional yang ditawarkan kepada civitas akademika ITS yang memiliki kesiapan baik dari segi kompetensi dan pengalaman untuk mendapatkan Insentif Khusus Publikasi Jurnal Internasional Terindeks Scopus yang WAJIB terbit di tahun 2018. Program ini diharapkan mampu menjadi pemicu bagi para dosen/peneliti untuk berlomba-lomba melakukan publikasi internasional terindeks baik pada jurnal – jurnal dalam negeri maupun luar negeri yang berkualitas dan berreputasi.

Tujuan utama dari diluncurkannya Program Percepatan Publikasi Internasional (P3I) tahun 2018 adalah mempercepat terwujudnya visi dan misi ITS untuk menjadi perguruan tinggi bereputasi intenasional dan masuk pada deretan perguruan tinggi terfavorit dunia, sedangkan tujuan lain yang ingin dicapai dari program ini adalah:

  1. Menumbuhkan semangat lebih untuk melakukan publikasi internasional.
  2. Menumbuhkan iklim kompetisi yang sehat untuk menjadi yang terbaik (fastabikhul khoirot) dalam bidang publikasi ilmiah internasional.
  3. Meningkatkan budaya kerjasama dalam penelitian untuk menghasilkan luaran yang berkualitas agar mampu menembus jurnal-jurnal bergensi dunia.
  4. Melakukan desiminasi hasil – hasil penelitian agar dapat memberi kontribusi/manfaat secara lebih luas kepada masyarkat.
  5. Memperkuat misi ITS untuk menjadi bagian dari research university
  6. Mengokohkan kembali peran laboratorium untuk menjadi ujung tombak penelitian yang berkualitas agar dapat menghasilkan publikasi internasional bereputasi.

Peningkatan jumlah publikasi dan sitasi dosen ITS merupakan salah satu indikator utama dalam mewujudkan ITS sebagai universitas kelas dunia. Jumlah publikasi ilmiah dosen ITS yang telah meningkat dalam lima tahun terakhir ternyata masih jauh dibawah jumlah publikasi sejumlah perguruan tinggi terkemuka di Asia.

Oleh karena itu, untuk meningkatkan motivasi peneliti di ITS dalam mempublikasikan hasil penelitiannya di jurnal ilmiah atau prosiding konferensi, ITS memberikan Insentif Publikasi Ilmiah.

Pengajuan insentif publikasi ilmiah internasional bisa dilakukan setelah ada pemberitahuan dari LPPM mengenai hasil unduhan dari Scopus publish di bulan dan tahun tertentu. Selanjutnya hasil unduhan akan digunakan LPPM untuk proses pemberian insentif publikasi internasional. Para Peneliti/Calon Penerima Insentif harus melengkapi data sesuai yang harus diisikan untuk menghindari kesalahan transfer insentif ke pihak yang tidak berhak.

Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) adalah Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Badan Hukum yang keberadaannya diatur di dalam Peraturan Pemerintah Republik Indonesia Nomor 54Tahun 2015 tentang Statuta Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember.

 

Pasal 3 Ayat (3) Statuta Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember:

Misi ITS di bidang penelitian, berperan secara aktif dalam pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi terutama di bidang kelautan, lingkungan dan permukiman, energi, serta teknologi informasi dan komunikasi yang berwawasan lingkungan melalui kegiatan penelitian yang berkualitas internasional.

Pasal 21 Ayat (1) sampai dengan (4) Statuta Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember:

  1. ITS menyelenggarakan penelitian dasar, penelitian terapan, penelitian pengembangan, dan/atau penelitian industri yang diarahkan untuk menghasilkan inovasi yang bermanfaat bagi pendidikan dan keunggulan bangsa.
  2. Penelitian dikembangkan baik secara mandiri oleh ITS maupun melalui kerja sama dengan lembaga, badan usaha, dan/atau organisasi lain baik nasional maupun internasional.
  3. Kegiatan penelitian dilaksanakan dalam bentuk monodisiplin, multidisiplin, interdisiplin, atau transdisiplin.
  4. Kegiatan penelitian dilaksanakan dengan mematuhi norma dan etika akademik sesuai dengan prinsip otonomi keilmuan yang mengacu pada visi, misi, dan tujuan ITS, serta ketentuan peraturan perundang-undangan.

 

Ketentuan lebih lanjut mengenai kebijakan penelitian diatur dalam Peraturan Senat Akademik Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Nomor 2 Tahun 2017 tentang Norma dan Kebijakan Penelitian Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember.

 

Pasal 2 Ayat (3) Peraturan Senat Akademik Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Nomor 2 Tahun 2017:

Tujuan penyelenggaraan Penelitian :

  1. Berperan secara aktif dalam pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan seni, terutama di bidang kelautan, lingkungan dan permukiman, energi, teknologi informasi dan komunikasi, yang berwawasan lingkungan melalui kegiatan penelitian yang berkualitas internasional
  2. Memberikan kontribusi yang relevan dan berkualitas tinggi dalam pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan seni bagi kemandirian teknologi, kebutuhan institusi, pembangunan nasional dan internasional
  3. Mengembangkan penelitian yang mengacu pada kebutuhan strategis nasional, keberlanjutan sumber daya yang dimiliki dan peningkatan kemampuan kompetitif secara global
  4. Mengembangkan penelitian sebagai sarana pengembangan kompetensi sumber daya manusia ITS dalam rangka meningkatkan profesionalisme

 

Pasal 3 Ayat (4) Statuta Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember:

Misi ITS di bidang pengabdian kepada masyarakat, memanfaatkan segala sumber daya yang dimiliki untuk ikut serta dalam menyelesaikan problem yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat, industri, pemerintah pusat, dan pemerintah daerah dengan mengedepankan fasilitas teknologi informasi dan komunikasi.

Pasal 26 Ayat (1) sampai dengan (4) Statuta Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember:

  1. ITS menyelenggarakan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dalam dalam bentuk pelayanan, pemberdayaan, dan/atau kerja sama dengan masyarakat sesuai dengan norma, etika, dan sesuai dengan kompetensi akademik yang dimiliki.
  2. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilaksanakan oleh ITS secara individu dan/atau berkelompok untuk menerapkan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi beserta hasil penelitian dalam upaya pemberdayaan masyarakat, pengembangan industri dan wilayah, memajukan kecerdasan umum, dan mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa.
  3. Hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat dimanfaatkan untuk pengayaan pembelajaran dan penelitian serta pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi.
  4. Ketentuan lebih lanjut mengenai penyelenggaraan dan pemanfaatan hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat diatur dengan Peraturan Rektor.

Kebijakan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat diatur dalam Peraturan Senat Akademik Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Nomor 3 Tahun 2017 tentang Norma dan Kebijakan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember.

Tujuan penyelenggaraan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat:

  1. Memanfaatkan hasil penelitian dan sumber daya yang dimiliki untuk menyelesaikan masalah yang dihadapi masyarakat, industri, pemerintah pusat, dan pemerintah daerah dengan mengedepankan fasilitas teknologi informasi dan komunikasi;
  2. Memberikan kontribusi yang relevan dan berkualitas tinggi dalam penerapan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, desain, dan seni bagi kebutuhan pembangunan nasional dan internasional.

TENTANG LPPM

Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPM) ITS adalah unsur pelaksana akademik yang melaksanakan sebagian tugas pokok dan fungsi ITS di bidang Penelitian dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat.

LPPM sebagaimana tertuang dalam Organisasi dan Tata Kerja ITS dalam Peraturan Rektor Nomor 10 Tahun 2016 mempunyai tugas mengelola dan mengembangkan jejaring penelitian dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat

Dalam melaksanakan tugas , LPPM menyelenggarakan fungsi:

  1. Penyusunan dan sosialisasi peta jalan penelitian dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat sesuai kebijakan Rektor
  2. Penyusunan perencanaan, pengorganisasian, dan pemantauan program penelitian, termasuk penjaminan mutu, baik program monodisiplin maupun program lintas disiplin yang dilaksanakan oleh pusat penelitian dan laboratorium
  3. Penyusunan perencanaan, pengorganisasian, dan pemantauan program pengabdian kepada masyarakat
  4. Penyediaan informasi kegiatan penelitian dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat

 

LPPM dipimpin oleh seorang Kepala LPPM, yang dalam menjalankan tugasnya bertanggung jawab kepada Rektor

Sekilas Pusat HKI

Pusat Pengelolaan Hak Kekayaan Intelektual adalah sebuah Lembaga di ITS yang dibentuk sebagai jawaban semakin maraknya tindakan pelanggaran terhadap hak kekayaan intelektual di lingkungan perguruan tinggi. Sebelumnya, Pusat Pengelolaan Hak Kekayaan Intelektual bernama Lembaga Penjamin Mutu Pengelolaan dan Perlindungan Kekayaan Intelektual (LPMP2KI).
Pusat Pengelolaan Hak Kekayaan Intelektual mempunyai fungsi utama yaitu menyusun baku mutu dari proses dan produk dari Pendidikan, penelitian, dan pengabdian masyarakat di lingkungan ITS, serta mengelola dan mengupayakan perlindungan kekayaan intelektual civitas akademika ITS.

Tugas Pusat Pengelolaan Hak Kekayaan Intelektual :

  1. Menghimpun segala hasil karya intelektual civitas akademika ITS
  2. Mengolah hasil karya intelektual
  3. Memfasilitasi perguruan tinggi dalam perlindungan terhadap karya intelektual civitas akademika ITS

Sekilas Pusat Studi

Ancaman Kelangkaan energi di masa depan dan dampak lingkungan yang ditimbulkan dari bahan bakar fosil membuat ITS terus berinovasi mengembangkan energi baru dan terbarukan. Inovasi ITS pada energi ramah lingkungan dituangkan melalui riset yang dinaungi oleh Pusat Studi Energi di bawah Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPM).
Pusat Studi Energi ITS berkomitmen mendukung program pemerintah dalam menjaga ketahanan energi dan keberlanjutan energi di Indoensia. Tujuan ini sesuai dengan Kebjakan Energi Nasional yang tertuang dalam Buku Putih Kebijakan Energi Tahun 2005-2025 maupun dalam Rencana Umum Energi Nasional (RUEN) yang tertuang dalam PP. No. 22 Tahun 2017 tentang Kebijakan Energi Tahun 2016-2050.
Dalam pengelolaan energi, Pusat Studi Energi ITS mengedepankan prinsip berkeadilan, berkelanjutan, dan berwawasan lingkungan. Hal ini dilakukan agar kemandirian energi dan ketahanan energi nasional dapat terwujud. Pilar utama yang dilakukan oleh Pusat Studi Energi ITS adalah melakukan penelitian dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang terkait dengan: Intensifikasi Energi, Diversifikasi Energi dan Konservasi Energi.
Pusat Studi Energi ITS turut berkontribusi mempercepat pengembangan energi terbarukan di Indonesia, di antaranya adalah mendirikan Pusat Konservasi Energi, menaikkan harga BBM dan listrik atau mengurangi subsidinya, serta memperkuat kapasitas institusi dan sumberdaya manusia terkait pembangunan energi. Inovasi ITS pada energi ramah lingkungan berasal dari air, bayu, panas bumi, arus dan gelombang laut, solar cell, hingga biomassa.

Topik Penelitian

Riset unggulan pada Pusat Studi Energi ITS difokuskan pada tiga area, yaitu:
1. Diversifikasi Energi

  • Pengembangan Photovoltaic agar lebih efektif dan efisien.
  • Pengembangan turbin angin agar lebih efektif, efisien, dan andal.
  • Penelitian dalam bidang power elektronika untuk meningkatkan kontribusi komponen kandungan lokal dalam pengembangan integrasi energi baru terbarukan.

2. Intensifikasi Energi

  • Pengembangan teknik carbon capture dengan proses kimia (menangkap CO2 dari cerobong asap pembangkit yang dapat digunakan untuk me-recovery sumur minyak yang tidak produktif.
  • Pengembangan teknik carbon capture dengan proses fisika (menangkap CO2 dari cerobong asap pembangkit yang dapat digunakan untuk me-recovery sumur minyak yang tidak produktif.
  • Bekerja sama dengan pihak terkait mengenai pemanfaatan CO2 untuk Enhancement Oil Recovery ( EOR) sehingga cadangan minyak terbukti dapat meningkat.

3. Manajemen Energi dan Auditor Energi

  • Melaksanakan audit energi di Gedung Rektorat, Gedung Departemen Teknik Fisika, dan Gedung Research Center, sebagai pilot project yang diikuti oleh sebagaian besar Anggota Pusat Studi Energi ITS.
  • Mengirim Angota PSE untuk mengikuti pelatihan capacity building yang diselengggarakan oleh Kementrian Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral sebanyak dua gelombang.
  • Melakukan diseminasi penyebaran pengetahuan bidang manajamen energi dan auditor energi kepada anggota Pusat Studi Energi ITS dan kepada anggota perguruan tinggi Eastern Part of Indonesian Uiversity Network (EPI-Unet).
  • Bekerja sama dengan LSP Energi melaksankan Ujian Kompetensi Auditor Energi bagi industri di Jawa Timur.

Fasilitas

Pusat Studi Energi ITS memiliki kumpulan pakar yang melakukan penelitian dalam bidang energi baru dan terbarukan. Pusat studi ini memiliki akses terhadap fasilitas penelitian canggih di Laboratorium Energi dan Lingkungan ITS. Adapun instrumen penelitian yang terdapat pada laboratorium ini meliputi SEM-EDX, XRD, AFM, ICP-OES, XRF, HRMS, HPLC, GC dan sebagainya yang terkait dengan kebutuhan riset dalam bidang energi alternatif. Selain itu, laboratorium juga dilengkapi dengan peralatan survey lapangan dalam bentuk mobil laboratorium dengan kemampuan untuk melakukan analisis kualitas air, tanah dan udara seperti pH, DO, kandungan ion-ion nitrat, nitrit, Sulfat, amoniak dan kolrida, konduktivitas air, kandungan CO, CO2, NOx, SOx, kelembaban, kandungan debu di udara, alat ukur getaran dan kebisingan, alat ukur getaran akibat ledakan, alat ukur angka cetane dan octane, alat serta ukur titik embun BBG.

Sekilas Pusat Studi

Pusat Studi TIK dan Robotika adalah pusat studi di bawah Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPM). Pusat Studi TIK dan Robotika memiliki visi untuk menjadi pusat studi terkemuka di tingkat nasional dan dikenal secara internasional sebelum tahun 2020. Visi tersebut diwujudkan melalui penyediaan kegiatan penelitian dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di bidang teknologi informasi dan komunikasi serta robotika untuk dosen, peneliti dan mahasiswa ITS.
Pusat TIK dan Robotika ITS memiliki beberapa kegiatan penelitian yang sangat baik untuk mendukung pengembangan teknologi informasi, komunikasi, dan robotika di Indonesia. Kegiatan penelitian unggulan dibagi menjadi dua sumber pendanaan, yang berasal dari kerjasama industri dan juga dana lokal ITS. Dari kerjasama dengan industri, topik penelitian terkemuka untuk 2016-2019 adalah sebagai berikut:

Sekilas Pusat Studi

Pusat Penelitian untuk Permukiman, Lingkungan, dan Infrastruktur atau Pusat Studi Pemukiman, Lingkungan, dan Infrastruktur (PLI) adalah integrasi dari dua pusat studi yang ada di ITS, yaitu Pusat Penelitian untuk Permukiman dan Lingkungan dan Pusat Penelitian untuk Logistik dan Infrastruktur. Pusat penelitian, yang diresmikan pada tahun 2015, bekerja untuk mengembangkan penelitian, kerja sama, dan layanan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan seni dalam permukiman, lingkungan, fasilitas, dan infrastruktur. Pusat Penelitian PLI adalah anggota Badan Koordinasi Pusat Studi Lingkungan di Indonesia (BKPSL) yang memiliki keanggotaan sekitar 100 pusat studi lingkungan dari seluruh Indonesia. Pada tahun 1997 dan 1998, Pusat Penelitian PLI menjabat sebagai kepala badan koordinasi. Sementara pada 2016 – 2018 Pusat Penelitian PLI ditunjuk sebagai Koordinator Komisi Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat BKPSL.

Topik Penelitian

Roadmap penelitian di Pusat Studi PLI difokuskan pada tiga bidang dan satu penelitian yang sangat baik dengan dana ITS setempat. Tiga bidang penelitian adalah sebagai berikut:

1. Bidang Pemukiman

Kegiatan penelitian di bidang ini dikembangkan oleh tim dari Laboratorium Lingkungan, Departemen Arsitektur, Fakultas Arsitektur, Desain, dan Perencanaan (FADP) ITS. Tema penelitian utama di bidang permukiman adalah Keberlanjutan, Keterjangkauan Perumahan, dan Pemukiman Manusia dan Harmoni dengan Alam. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan produk desain permukiman dan perumahan dengan tetap menjaga budaya dan ekosistem setempat. Topik penelitian di bidang lingkungan meliputi:

  • Permukiman dan Rumah Kampung: Tempat tinggal dan desa yang lebih baik yang telah dikembangkan saat ini. Penelitian diarahkan pada pelestarian kampung di daerah perkotaan dengan tetap mempertahankan budaya dan kearifan lokal, dan infrastruktur serta sanitasi lingkungan dikelola dengan baik.
  • Tanah dan Infrastruktur: Penelitian diarahkan pada pengaturan dan pengembangan infrastruktur di daerah perumahan.
  • Perumahan oleh Orang: Penelitian lebih fokus pada pemberdayaan masyarakat di perumahan dan permukiman.
  • Perumahan dan Pemukiman Formal: Penelitian diarahkan pada inovasi pengembangan perumahan baru yang lebih tertib dan perencanaan area real estat.
  • Sosial, Budaya, dan Lingkungan: Penelitian difokuskan pada bidang pelestarian lingkungan yang terkait dengan komunitas sosial dan budaya dalam objek penelitian.
  • Pemukiman Strategis: Penelitian dalam perencanaan terkait dengan pola distribusi populasi, urbanisasi, dan transmigrasi.
  • Keuangan dan Manajemen Perumahan: Penelitian ini berfokus pada bidang manajemen dan pola pembiayaan hunian bagi masyarakat.
  • Manajemen Bencana: Penelitian berfokus pada manajemen bencana baik untuk mitigasi bencana dan pasca bencana.

2. Bidang Lingkungan

Roadmap penelitian lingkungan diarahkan pada pengembangan Teknologi Pengendalian Polusi dan Kebijakan Lingkungan dan Sanitasi. Pengembangan teknologi polutan mencakup tiga aspek sumber polutan: kontaminan polutan; limbah cair domestik dan industri; dan limbah padat domestik, industri, dan beracun dan berbahaya. Roadmap penelitian juga melakukan penelitian di bidang pembuatan kebijakan lingkungan dan perumahan serta pengembangan teknologi dan pengaturan sanitasi lingkungan. Pada 2017-2019, studi ini berfokus pada penanganan limbah padat domestik, khususnya penanganan limbah plastik yang tidak dapat digunakan kembali. Salah satu solusi alternatif dari sampah plastik yang tidak dapat digunakan kembali adalah dengan menghancurkan melalui proses pembakaran. Proses insinerasi yang ramah lingkungan membutuhkan insinerator yang dilengkapi dengan unit kontrol gas buang. Adapun untuk mewujudkan tujuan jangka panjang ini, kegiatan penelitian perlu dilaksanakan melalui berbagai topik penelitian kecil sebagai berikut:

  • Identifikasi limbah plastik yang tidak dapat digunakan kembali dan cari nilai kalor pembakaran, dan riset teknik pembakaran sampah plastik yang tidak dapat digunakan kembali untuk menemukan perbandingan udara dan bahan untuk mencapai kondisi pembakaran sendiri.
  • Penelitian dan desain sistem kontrol emisi gas buang dari pembakaran plastik limbah yang tidak dapat digunakan kembali
  • Perencanaan dan pembuatan prototipe insinerator ramah lingkungan yang terdiri dari insinerator dan sistem kontrol emisi gas buang.

3. Bidang Infrastruktur
Kegiatan penelitian di bidang Infrastruktur lebih fokus pada bidang-bidang seperti transportasi berkelanjutan dan pengembangan bahan untuk infrastruktur.

  • Penelitian tentang transportasi berkelanjutan mengarah pada inovasi rekayasa lalu lintas dan manajemen beban jalan.
  • Penelitian tentang pengembangan bahan untuk infrastruktur difokuskan pada pemanfaatan dan daur ulang limbah padat menjadi bahan bangunan ramah lingkungan.
  • Penelitian tentang topik teknik struktural lebih dikembangkan oleh departemen teknik sipil, terutama dalam teknik struktural. Kegiatan penelitian difokuskan pada inovasi rekayasa struktur bangunan.

Pusat Studi Kelautan merupakan sebuah pusat penelitian di bawah Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPM) ITS. Pusat studi ini melakukan penelitian multidisplin terkait dengan ilmu dan teknologi kelautan untuk memberikan sumbangsih dalam memecahkan permasalahan nasional.

Bidang Penelitian

Kegiatan riset di Pusat Studi Kelautan difokuskan untuk menjawab permasalahan nasional bidang ilmu dan teknologi kelautan. Di antaranya adalah:

  • Ketahanan pangan dan perikanan
  • Pertahanan dan keamanan

  • Pengelolaan pesisir dan pulau-pulau kecil

1. Pengembangan Desain Lambung Kapal dan Produksi Kapal Standar

  • Pemetaan model spektrum gelombang laut untuk wilayah perairan Indonesia
  • Pengembangan model analitik dan numerik perhitungan hambatan, dinamika dan kekuatan struktur kapal
  • Pengembangan desain lambung kapal mono hull dan multi hull

Sains, material dan nanoteknologi adalah bidang yang terus menerus berkembang dan memiliki potensi kebermanfaatan yang lebih baik ke depan. Di ITS telah terdapat 59 inovasi produk sains, material dan nanoteknologi yang telah dipatenkan. Riset ITS mengenai bidang ini telah diakui baik nasional maupun internasional.

Pusat studi Sains, Material, dan Nanoteknologi ITS memiliki visi dan misi sebagai pusat unggulan pengembangan dan penerapan sains dan teknologi material, khususnya berbasis pada pemanfaatan sumber daya alam nasional yang mampu bersaing pada tataran global.

Pusat Studi Potensi Daerah dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat (PDPM) LPPM ITS merupakan salah satu pusat studi di bawah LPPM ITS yang memiliki kompetensi khusus di bidang pengembangan potensi daerah berbasis pemberdayaan masyarakat. PDPM berdiri sejak Tahun 2000, berawal dari kerjasama antara ITS dengan BAPPEPROV Jawa Timur terkait dengan kebutuhan studi identifikasi potensi dan permasalahan pulau-pulau kecil di Jawa Timur.
Didukung oleh tenaga ahli yang berkualitas, serta tim penunjang (asisten) yang handal,  kami mampu memberikan layanan terbaik berupa riset, pelatihan, dan pendampingan dalam berbagai aspek pembangunan. Selama sepuluh tahun terakhir, kami telah berhasil mengembangkan kerja sama dan jaringan yang cukup luas baik nasional maupun internasional melalui lembaga pemerintah dan swasta. Sejalan dengan visi misi Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember yang memberikan kontribusi nyata dalam pengembangan pengetahuan dan pembangunan, Pusat Studi PDPM-LPPM ITS akan terus mengembangkan diri untuk dapat menghasilkan produk dan layanan berkualitas sesuai kebutuhan masyarakat.

Topik Penelitian

1. Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat

Pusat Studi PDPM LPPM ITS melakukan kegiatan Campus Social Responsibility (CSR) di wilayah ring 1 ITS (yaitu kelurahan Keputih, Gebang Putih, dan Kejawan Putih Tambak), serta Campus Goes to Kampung di ex lokalisasi Dolly.  Topik-topik penelitian dan pengabdian masyarakat antara lain :

  1. Alih citra kawasan eks lokalisasi menjadi kawasan wisata edukasi berbasis industri kreatif
  2. ITS pionir kawasan cerdas berteknologi, berwawasan bahari dan lingkungan di Kelurahan Sekitar kampus ITS

2. Layanan

Selain melaksanakan tugas pokok, PDPM juga melakukan kegiatan dengan melibatkan pihak ketiga (industri, swasta, pemerintah daerah, pihak internasional dan lain-lain).  PDPM melaksanakan pengumpulan, pengolahan, analisa, penyajian data yang dilakukan secara sistematis dan objektif yang bertujuan untuk memecahkan masalah, khususnya pada bidang pemberdayaan masyarakat.

3. Pelatihan

Pelatihan ditujukan untuk membantu menjadikan masyarakat mandiri. Baik di bidang lingkungan, ketrampilan, maupun peningkatan ekonomi dan sumber daya manusia. Selain pelatihan untuk masyarakat sasaran penelitian, pelatihan juga dilakukan bagi tim yang akan melaksanakan aktivitas di PDPM. Seperti pelatihan surveyor, supervisor, penulisan ilmiah, training of traniner (ToT), dan pelatihan fasilitator.

4. Pendampingan

PDPM malaksanakan pendampingan kepada masyarakat berdasarkan hasil kajian dan penelitian. Pendampingan ini sesuai dengan hasil riset dan kajian yang telah dilaksanakan PDPM.

Sekilas Pusat Studi

Ketika bencana menerjang berbagai daerah di Jawa Timur, beberapa peneliti kebencanaan di ITS berkumpul dan membentuk Pusat Studi Bencana (PSB) pada 24 Maret 2004. Pendirian PSB ini didukung oleh Bakornas PB dan Masyarakat Penanggulangan Bencana Indonesia (MPBI). Pada 2008 PSB berganti nama menjadi Pusat Studi Kebumian dan Bencana (PSKB) dengan harapan dapat membantu mengumpulkan sumber daya internal dan menjadi bidang penelitian para ahli Geosains di ITS sambil mempersiapkan pembentukan beberapa departemen yang terkait dengan ilmu bumi. Pada 2012, saat isu perubahan iklim menjadi topik hangat di berbagai belahan dunia, PSKB berganti nama menjadi Pusat Studi Kebumian, Bencana, dan Perubahan Iklim (PSKBPI).
Sebagai sebuah lembaga, PSKBPI merupakan salah satu pusat studi di bawah Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPM). Lembaga ini didirikan untuk mengimplementasikan visi dan misi ITS agar dapat berpartisipasi aktif dalam pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan seni khususnya di bidang kelautan, permukiman dan energi melalui kegiatan penelitian berkualitas internasional. Oleh karena itu, PSKBPI mengelola dan memanfaatkan semua sumber daya untuk berpartisipasi dalam memecahkan masalah yang dihadapi masyarakat, terutama di bidang bencana dan perubahan iklim.
Pusat studi ini terus membangun kesadaran terhadap bencana, khususnya bagi sivitas akademika ITS dan umumnya masyarakat di Surabaya dan Jawa Timur. Oleh karena itu, PSKBPI membangun jaringan dengan berbagai pemangku kepentingan yang bergerak di bidang kebumian, bencana, dan perubahan iklim baik nasional, regional maupun internasional. Beberapa jaringan yang menjadi mitra PSKBPI adalah: Pemerintah Provinsi Jawa Timur, Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana (BNPB), Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD), Satkorlak PB Kota Surabaya, Pusat Vulkanologi dan Mitigasi Bencana Geologi (PVMBG), MPBI, Forum PT PRB, UNICEF, UNDP, UN OCHA, UNEP, UNDAC, SCDRR, AUSAID, USAID, OXFAM, GTZ, Paklim GIZ, berbagai LSM dan masyarakat umum.
Pada 3 Maret 2016, ITS mengeluarkan kebijakan untuk merestrukturisasi pusat studi yang ada di bawah koordinasi LPPM. Pusat Studi Infrastruktur Data Spasial (PSIDS) atau yang lebih dikenal dengan Pusat Pengembangan Infrastruktur Data Spasial (PPIDS), yang merupakan lembaga yang dibentuk oleh Badan Informasi Geospasial (BIG), tergabung dalam PSKBPI. Untuk memudahkan koordinasi antar peneliti dan memudahkan tercapainya target besar pusat studi, PSKBPI membentuk 4 (empat) kelompok kerja (working group) yang fokus pada bidang keahlian di bawah PSKBPI. Keempatnya meliputi: Kelompok Kerja untuk Studi Kebumian, Kelompok Kerja untuk Studi Bencana, Kelompok Kerja untuk Studi Perubahan Iklim, dan Kelompok Kerja untuk Studi Infrastruktur Data Spasial

Berdasarkan roadmap penelitian PSKBPI, topik penelitian PSKBPI meliputi:

  • Deformasi permukaan tanah
  • Pengurangan risiko bencana meteorologi
  • Penilaian risiko gempa dan tsunami
  • Penilaian kerentanan lahan
  • Penilaian bangunan dan kerentanan infrastruktur sipil
  • Penilaian kerentanan sosial
  • Pemantauan dan peramalan cuaca lokal dan global

  • Implementasi dan pengembangan FOSS untuk mendukung infrastruktur data spasial

Sekilas Pusat Kajian Halal

Sebagai negara dengan populasi penduduk Muslim terbesar di dunia, produk makanan dan minuman halal menjadi sebuah kebutuhan bagi masyarakat Indonesia. Namun faktanya, banyak masyarakat yang kesulitan dalam mengidentifikasi kehalalan suatu produk makanan dan minuman.
Di samping itu, industri halal juga kian berkembang di berbagai negara seiring dengan pertumbuhan dan persebaran populasi umat Muslim. Menjawab tantangan tersebut, ITS sebagai perguruan tinggi unggulan di Indonesia berupaya mengedepankan pendekatan riset untuk memeriksa kehalalan suatu produk. Tujuan itu diimplementasikan melalui riset Kajian Halal di ITS. Lebih dari itu, Pusat Studi Kajian Halal ITS juga berperan melakukan penelitian untuk mencari bahan pengganti produk haram yang saat ini digunakan sebagai bahan makanan dan obat-obatan.
Pusat studi ini diresmikan pada 24 Maret 2016 dan disahkan sebagai pusat kajian di ITS oleh SK Rektor tertanggal 24 Oktober 2016. Kegiatan yang dilakukan di PKH meliputi edukasi, riset, analisis, memberikan pelayanan kepada masyarakat dan memberikan masukan terhadap pemerintah terkait dengan produk halal dan regulasinya. PKH dibentuk berdasarkan kebutuhan informasi kehalalan yang lengkap dan akurat bagi masyarakat muslim mengenai pentingnya produk halal. Hasil-hasil dari PKH diharapkan mudah diterima dan dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat muslim Indonesia secara keseluruhan.
Pusat Kajian Halal ITS memiliki beberapa program unggulan, di antaranya adalah:

  1. Penyiapan dan pelatihan auditor tersertifikasi
  2. Halal Care ITS
  3. Peningkatan kapasitas melalui Focus Group Discussion (FGD), workshop, dan pelatihan
  4. Riset terkait produk halal
  5. Penyiapan publikasi nasional melalui jurnal halal
  6. Olimpide halal tingkat nasional
  7. Pembentukan Lembaga Penjaminan Halal (LPH)

Pusat Kajian Halal ITS memiliki laboratorium dengan instrumen sebagai berikut:

  1. Fluorescence
  2. Potensiostat
  3. Freeze Dryer
  4. LCMS
  5. QCM

Pusat Kajian Halal ITS melakukan kajian dan penelitian mengenai produk halal, diantaranya adalah:

  1. Subtitusi bahan haram
  2. Pengembangan metode analisis bahan haram
  3. Pemanfaatan ICT untuk sosialisasi kepada masyarakat

Pusat Kajian Halal ITS telah menjalin kerjasama dengan berbagai institusi, di antaranya adalah:

Pusat Robotika didirikan mulai akhir tahun 2009 dan diresmikan penggunaannya oleh Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono pada tanggal 14 Desember 2010. Pusat Robotika bernaung di bawah Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (LPPM) – ITS.
Automasi dan penggunaan robot di dalam industri dan bidang-bidang lain yang membutuhkannya akan semakin meningkat di masa yang akan datang. Automasi dan penggunaan robot akan sangat membantu di dalam meningkatkan efisiensi suatu proses sehingga proses tersebut akan semakin ekonomis.
Dalam hal Robotika, ITS telah mempelopori penelitian, pengembangan, dan pendidikan robot nasional. Hal ini ditandai dengan keikutsertaan ITS di dalam kontes-kontes robot nasional (KRI), regional, maupun internasional. Didasarkan oleh hal itu maka ITS mengusulkan sebuah pusat kajian robotika, mulai dari pengembangan sampai aplikasi yang diharapkan sangat membantu masyarakat.
Untuk Mendukung Kegiatan di Laboratorium Robotika, ada beberapa laboratorium didalamnya yang diantaranya adalah :

  1. Laboratorium Robot Cerdas;
  2. Laboratorium Robot Produksi;
  3. Laboratorium Sensor Industri;dan
  4. Laboratorium Kontrol Robot.

Di area Laboratorium Robotika juga terdapat Gedung Arena PUSAT TIK DAN ROBOTIKA ITS merupakan sebuah gedung yang juga mendukung kegiatan Laboratorium Robotika dan juga dapat digunakan sebagai tempat berlangsungnya acara-acara seperti :

  2. Seminar;
  3. Pelatihan;
  4. Tes Pegawai;
  5. Pelatihan ESQ;
  6. Pernikahan;
  7. Reuni;
  8. dan lainnya.

Laboratorium Energi dan lingkungan merupakan salah satu laboratorium penelitian dan layanan yang dikelola secara langsung oleh Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPM) ITS. Laboratorium ini memiliki tugas pokok untuk menunjang dan melaksanakan penelitian unggulan ITS serta memberikan layanan jasa konsultasi, analisis dan pelatihan dalam bidang energi dan rekayasa bagi masyarakat.
Laboratorium ini dibangun pada pertengahan tahun 2009. Komisioning gedung dan peralatan dilakukan pada akhir tahun 2009 dan mulai beroperasi sejak bulan Maret 2010. Perluasan laboratorium telah dilakukan dengan dibangunnya gedung laboratorium energi II di area Riset Center ITS dengan luas lantai sekitar 2400 m
Laboratorium Energi dan lingkungan dilengkapi dengan instrumen analisis canggih, laboratorium, mobil Lab (portabel Instrument) untuk survey lapangan, gedung workshop, kantor bagi peneliti tamu dan mahasiswa S3 serta ruangan-ruangan untuk pendidikan dan pelatihan.
Instrumentasi utama yang terdapat di Laboratorium Studi Energi dan Rekayasa meliputi SEM-EDX, XRD, AFM, ICP-OES, XRF, HRMS, HPLC, GC dan sebagainya yang terkait dengan kebutuhan riset dalam bidang energi alternatif. Selain itu, laboratorium juga dilengkapi dengan peralatan survey lapangan dalam bentuk lab. mobil dengan kemampuan untuk melakukan analisis kualitas air, tanah dan udara seperti pH, DO, kandungan ion-ion nitrat, nitrit, Sulfat, amoniak dan kolrida, konduktivitas air, kandungan CO, CO2, NOx, SOx,  kelembaban, kandungan debu di udara, alat ukur getaran dan kebisingan, alat ukur getaran akibat ledakan, alat ukur angka cetane dan octane, alat serta ukur titik embun BBG.
