On November 10, 1957, the First President of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr.Ir. Soekarno inaugurated the establishment of the Ten November College of Engineering at the Surabaya Morokrembangan airport. Based on PP No. 9 In 1961, the technical college was nominated as the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS). At the time of its establishment, the Ten November College of Engineering only had 2 faculties, namely the Faculty of Civil Engineering (FTS) and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FTM). After being nominated, ITS has 3 new faculties, namely the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FTE), the Faculty of Chemical Engineering (FTK), and the Faculty of Shipping Engineering (FTP). With the Decree of the Minister of PDK No. 72 In 1965, ITS added 2 more faculties, namely the Faculty of Architectural Engineering (FTA) and the Faculty of Definite Sciences and Natural Sciences (FIPIA). Based on RI Decree No. 58 of 1982 regarding the reorganization of the organization and work procedures of ITS, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering ITS changed to the Department of Electrical Engineering. In this case, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and the FIPIA Physics Engineering Department were merged into the Industrial Technology Faculty (FTI). The ITS Multimedia and Network Engineering Department (PSS TMJ – ITS) was born from one of the fields of study in the ITS Electrical Engineering Department (JTE – ITS), namely the Field of Computer and Telematics Engineering (TKT).
