In total there are six laboratories in the Department of Chemistry, which consist of one educational laboratory and five research laboratories. The educational laboratory i.e. Fundamental Chemistry Laboratory, is a laboratory that functions in supporting the education process (learning and teaching) in the Department of Chemistry. This laboratory facilitates all classical course practicum in the Department of Chemistry, especially in Bachelor Programme. Thus, all practicums that support the course are carried out in the laboratory, accompanied by the course\u2019s lecturer and assisted by laboratory assistants.<\/p>\n<p>The five research laboratories in the Department of Chemistry consist of Instrumentation and Analytical Science Laboratory, Micrbial Chemistry Laboratory, Molecular Geochemistry Laboratory, Natural Product and Chemical Synthesis Laboratory and Materials Chemistry and Energy Laboratory. These laboratores focus their function to carry out research in Department of Chemistry. The research activities of the final project (thesis), student thesis and dissertation is mainly carried out in this research laboratory, although it is possible that it will also be supported by the Fundamental Chemistry Laboratory. The Masters and Doctoral students are members of research laboratories in accordance with their research fields.<br \/>\nMembership in research laboratories is based on the similarity of interest in research topics of lecturers or research groups, not based on the classical field of chemistry. At present, 5 research laboratories in the Department of Chemistry have been certified Lab-Based Education by LPPM ITS. Lab based education (LBE) means that the laboratory has integrated the lecture process with research in the laboratory, and vice versa.
