To Strengthen Collaboration, ITS DTI Holds a Meeting for Parents of the Class of 2026

Surabaya, ITS News — To kick off the academic journey of the incoming class of 2026, the Department of Information Technology (DTI) at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) held a Meeting for Parents of New Students on Saturday (September 12). Organized in an “Open Talk” format, the event aimed to foster transparent communication between the department and students’ families, while also providing a realistic glimpse into the learning environment at ITS’s DTI.

This carefully planned event featured a variety of interactive activities. According to the program details, the event began with a welcome reception at 11:00 a.m., followed by a campus tour at 1:00 p.m. During the tour, parents were invited to walk around and see the department’s facilities firsthand, ranging from a row of laboratories to the “Wall of Recognition” showcasing a variety of student achievements in the 7th-floor hallway.

After touring the campus, the event continued with a formal session featuring a presentation by the Head of the DTI ITS Department. In addition to discussing academic matters, the DTI ITS also demonstrated its commitment to student mental well-being by hosting a Psychology Talk Show featuring guest speaker Syarifa Yurizdiana, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist. The festivities concluded on a high note with a special performance by the incoming class of 2026.

The enthusiasm and positive appreciation were clearly evident among the parents in attendance. One such sentiment was expressed by Mrs. Hestin Sulamiyatiningsih, the mother of Putri Ratnaning Ayu, a freshman in the Computer Science class of 2026 from Surabaya. During an interview, she shared her admiration for the warm welcome and the department’s facilities.

“My first impression was that the buildings are beautiful. Then, the upperclassmen who served on the organizing committee were all welcoming and very helpful. Whatever difficulties we face here, we can ask them, and they explain things very clearly,” said Mrs. Hestin.

Although she has a background in law, Ms. Hestin feels very grateful and confident that she has entrusted her daughter’s education to DTI ITS. She sees that the environment, the friendships, and the faculty at DTI ITS create a very positive atmosphere for student development.
