ITS Information Technology and representative of SD Luqman Al Hakim on “Utilizing AI for Learning Media and Interactive Quizzes” training.
Surabaya, IT Journalistic — In an effort to support digital transformation in education, the Department of Information Technology (DTI) at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) organized a community engagement program entitled “Teacher Competency Enhancement Training: Utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Learning Media and Interactive Quizzes.” The event took place on July 7 and 9, 2026, at Hall Sulaiman, 3rd Floor, SD Luqman Al Hakim, Surabaya.
The event was officially opened by the Principal of SD Luqman Al Hakim, Syamsul Alam Jaga, S.Sos.I., S.Pd., M.I.Kom., Gr., who warmly welcomed the initiative. In an era of rapid technological advancement, the ability to integrate AI into teaching activities has become essential for educators to foster a more innovative, adaptive, and student-centered classroom environment.
Taufiq Choirul Amri, S.Tr.T., M.Kom., a speaker from DTI ITS, delivers a presentation and guides SD Luqman Al Hakim teachers in a hands-on session on creating interactive learning media.
Exploring AI Tools: From NotebookLM to Quizizz
The two-day training was led by a team of expert lecturers from DTI ITS, including Dr. Ir. Henning Titi Ciptaningtyas, S.Kom., M.Kom., Taufiq Choirul Amri, S.Tr.T., M.Kom., Gagatsatya Adiatmaja, S.Kom., M.Kom., and Ridho Rahman Hariadi, S.Kom., M.Sc.
On the first day, Dr. Ir. Henning Titi Ciptaningtyas kicked off the session by discussing the “Trends of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Modern Education.” After grasping the theoretical foundation, participants transitioned to the practical session. Taufiq Choirul Amri, S.Tr.T., M.Kom. guided the teachers in utilizing NotebookLM to create interactive learning media, encompassing presentations, videos, images, and worksheets.
ITS Information Technology students actively assist and guide SD Luqman Al Hakim teachers during the hands-on session of using AI platforms on their laptops.
Enthusiasm and Collaboration for Quality Education
Throughout the event, participants’ enthusiasm was highly visible through their interactive discussions and hands-on practices. The presence of DTI ITS students, who provided direct assistance to the teachers, ensured a highly effective technology transfer process. The ITS team also emphasized the importance of using AI ethically and responsibly, reminding teachers to always verify generated data so that technology remains a supportive tool rather than a replacement for the essential role of an educator.

This training aligns with DTI ITS’s commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically:
SDG 4 – Quality Education, by improving teachers’ digital literacy in designing innovative teaching materials.
SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by promoting the use of artificial intelligence as a modern innovation in the classroom.
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, through a concrete synergy between higher education (ITS) and a primary education institution (SD Luqman Al Hakim).
With the conclusion of this training, educators at SD Luqman Al Hakim are expected to implement their newly acquired competencies to create more engaging learning experiences, ultimately preparing their students to thrive in the digital era.
