Surabaya, IT Journalistic — The Department of Information Technology (DTI), Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (FTEIC), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) officially opened the even semester through the “Semester Opening 2026” event on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Auditorium, 2nd Floor, Tower 2 ITS. This event carried an important mission to maintain balance between academic performance and students’ psychological well-being through the launch of the Digital Mental Health Assessment Portal.
The Semester Opening 2026 was officially opened by Prof. Nurul Widiastuti, M.Si., Ph.D., Vice Rector I of ITS, and was attended by parents, ITS leadership, and students. The presence of parents became a crucial point, reflecting the synergy between the institution and families in supporting students’ academic journeys within DTI ITS.

A key highlight of the morning session was the launch of the DTI ITS Digital Mental Health Assessment Portal. This portal was designed as a tool for periodic monitoring and early detection of students’ mental health conditions. Through this digital platform, the Department aims to provide faster, more targeted support for students who need assistance or wish to consult regarding academic and personal challenges.

In her remarks, the Vice Rector I emphasized that mental health is no longer a secondary issue, but a fundamental foundation for student success. “Mental well-being is the key for students to reach their fullest potential. This portal represents the department’s concrete commitment to providing a healthy and supportive learning ecosystem,” stated one of the attending officials.
This innovation also reflects ITS’s commitment, particularly the Department of Information Technology, to delivering high-quality education oriented toward holistic student development. The ITS Bachelor’s Program in Information Technology has earned the ‘UNGGUL’ (Excellent) accreditation from LAM INFOKOM, recognizing its compliance with the highest national education standards. Furthermore, DTI ITS continues to strengthen internationalization through global academic collaborations, Outcome-Based Education (OBE)-based curriculum development, and the implementation of project-based and case-based learning aligned with international industry needs.

Complementing the portal launch, the event continued with a mental health seminar featuring Fatimatuzzakiyah, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist, from the ITS Medical Centre. In her presentation, she provided insights on stress management and emphasized the importance of openness between students, the university, and parents. The interactive discussion session was warmly received, allowing parents to directly engage in dialogue regarding their role in supporting their children’s emotional stability during higher education.

The organization of this event represents a concrete step by DTI ITS in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, and SDG 4: Quality Education. By prioritizing students’ mental well-being, DTI ITS demonstrates that education is not only about intellectual achievement but also about nurturing mentally resilient individuals. This approach contributes to the sustainability of inclusive, supportive, and high-quality education, ensuring that students are well-prepared both academically and psychologically for their future.
