Overview Research Center for Marine

Research Center for Marine is a research center under the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) ITS. This study center conducts multidisciplinary research related to marine science and technology to contribute in solving national problems.

 

Field of Research

Research activities at the Research Center for Marine are focuses on answering national challenge inĀ  marine science and technology. They are :

  • Food and fishery sustainability
  • Defense and security
  • Renewable marine energy
  • Water transportation
  • Management of coastal and small islands
  • Non-renewable marine resources

 

Research Topics

Some of the research topics conducted at the Research Center for Marine are as follows:

1. Development of Ship Hull Design and Standard Ship Production

  • Mapping ocean wave spectrum models for Indonesian waters
  • Development of analytic and numerical models for calculating barriers, dynamics and strength of ship structures
  • Development of monohull and multihull ship hull designs
  • Development of standard ship components in ship production systems in Indonesia
  • Development and application of new materials for ship construction
  • Development of standard construction regulations for small (non-conventional) vessels

2. System Technology Development and Marine Defense and main Security Equipment Systems

  • Development of the concept of warship and submarine design
  • Development of mini-submarines for reconnaissance missions
  • Development of weapons systems and warship control systems
  • Development of stealth technology for warships
  • Development of underwater communication systems and technology

3. Development of Technology for Exploration and Exploitation of Offshore Marine Resources

  • Development of numerical models and experiments for the analysis of offshore building structures
  • Development of offshore building production and installation systems
  • Development of a monitoring system, inspection, and maintenance of offshore building structures
  • Development of a hydrodynamic model of fluid interactions with offshore buildings
