ITS Campus, GLC News \u2014<\/b> Global Language Center (GLC) at the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) officially concluded the Scientific Writing Course (MKPI) on June 12. The course, attended by 28 graduate students, is part of GLC ITS\u2019s efforts to equip participants with academic writing skills to support their studies in a university setting. This course is overseen by the ITS Sub-Directorate of Common Lectures Coordination (SKPB) and offered in collaboration with the Academic Writing Center (AWC) at GLC as one of ITS\u2019s signature courses.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>

This year\u2019s MKPI program was divided into two classes with different teaching methods. MKPI Class 1, taught by Mr. Rizal Ardiansyah MPd, was conducted in a hybrid format, combining in-person learning in the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (BTI) Room at GLC ITS with online learning to accommodate students attending remotely. Meanwhile, MKPI Class 2, taught by Ms. Zakiyyatul Maghfiroh Hamidah Assagung SPd MPd, was conducted in-person in the International Room at GLC ITS.<\/span><\/p>

During the course, which ran from March 27, 2026, to June 12, 2026, participants learned about compare-and-contrast writing, causal analysis writing, argumentative writing, and analytical writing. Through this course, students are expected to apply academic writing skills as a foundation for completing assignments and conducting research throughout their studies.<\/span><\/p>

The MKPI coordinator at AWC ITS, Ms. Meilisa Sindy Astika Ariyanto MPd, explained that the MKPI program is designed not only to strengthen students\u2019 understanding of the theory of scientific writing but also to equip them with the ability to consistently apply academic writing structures and conventions across various academic contexts. \u201cThrough a series of learning activities over the course of one semester, we hope that students will not only understand the concepts but also gain the confidence to produce high-quality academic papers that are systematic, well-structured, and in accordance with academic standards,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>

In line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 on Quality Education, the Scientific Writing Course reflects GLC ITS\u2019s commitment to providing quality education by strengthening students\u2019 academic competencies. This adaptive learning approach, which is focused on improving academic literacy, is expected to support students\u2019 success in completing their studies and producing high-quality academic work.<\/span><\/p>

With the conclusion of this semester\u2019s Scientific Writing Course, GLC ITS hopes that the competencies acquired by participants will serve as a foundation for facing various academic challenges in higher education. Moving forward, GLC ITS is also committed to continuing to provide learning experiences that support the development of students\u2019 academic abilities in line with the needs of higher education.
