ELECTICS Company Talk 3rd Session: Preparing FTEIC Students for the Professional World

To prepare FTEIC students for the professional world, ELECTRICS Company Talk features Muhammad Rusydi Al Affan as a Computer Engineering alumnus, Alif Syihabudin Fawwaz Suhartono as a Biomedical Engineering alumnus, and Kevin Nathaniel as an Information Technology alumnus.

Surabaya, FTEIC ITS – ELECTICS Company Talk was held on September 19, 2026 at the ITS Robotics Building. This event took place offline and attended by around 1,100 FTEIC students. Session 3 presented discussions regarding student preparation for entering the professional world from the perspective of individuals in the early career stage. This session is directed toward Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Smart Informatics (FTEIC) students to provide an overview of the working world, technological developments, as well as various opportunities and challenges that can be faced after completing their education.

To provide diverse perspectives, this session featured three speakers with different educational backgrounds and professional experiences, namely Muhammad Rusydi Al Affan, Manager at Bank Rakyat Indonesia and Computer Engineering alumnus; Alif Syihabudin Fawwaz Suhartono, Service Project & Applicant Specialist at PT Meditrans Indonesia and Biomedical Engineering alumnus; as well as Kevin Nathaniel, Solution Architect at PT InMotion Inovasi Teknologi through 3Dolphins.ai and Information Technology alumnus.

The selection of the three speakers is based on diversity in background and career experience that remains related to technology fields. Muhammad Rusydi Al Affan provided an overview of professional experiences in the technology and banking sectors, while Alif Syihabudin Fawwaz Suhartono shared a perspective on the career journey of Biomedical Engineering graduates, whereas Kevin Nathaniel offered insights into Information Technology field and industry technological development. This diversity is expected to provide students from the Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (FTEIC) with a broader view about various possible career paths after graduation.

The material presented covers professional journey experiences, working world overview, as well as various opportunities that can be utilized by students after graduating. Technological development also became one important part in the discussion, especially regarding how capabilities in technology field can be applied across sectors. From these discussions, it appears that fields of study within FTEIC have potential to develop and intersect with various industrial sectors including health care, information technology, and banking.

One insight delivered in this session is that academic major background does not necessarily become a limit in determining career direction. Students have the opportunity to develop careers in fields that are not entirely linear with their pursued education. Relevant capabilities, willingness to learn new things, ability to adapt, as well as experiences gained during college can serve as preparation for facing various professional opportunities.

Besides technical skills, speakers also emphasized the importance of non-technical skills. Communication ability, teamwork collaboration, problem solving, adaptability, as well as willingness to continuously learn became several competencies that are important for students to prepare. Technological developments occurring rapidly also make it necessary for students to be open toward various knowledge and not limited solely on fields studied specifically during college.

Through ELECTICS Company Talk Session 3, FTEIC students gained opportunities for a broader overview of the professional world and various possible career paths after graduating. This session also emphasized that readiness to enter the working world is not only built through mastery of knowledge according to study fields but also through experience, adaptation ability, communication, teamwork, as well as willingness to continuously learn and develop.
