The Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (FTEIC) at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has once again expanded its international network through the organization of a Short Program titled INTERNATICS, held in collaboration with Universiti Malaya, Malaysia.

Surabaya, FT-EIC ITS – The Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (FTEIC) at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has once again expanded its international network through the organization of a Short Program titled INTERNATICS, held in collaboration with Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. The ten-day program, running from 2 to 11 August 2026, featured a series of academic and cultural activities centered at the Department of Informatics Engineering, the Department of Electrical Engineering, and several of ITS’s leading facilities.
The INTERNATICS program was designed around the concept of reciprocal exchange, providing a platform for international students and ITS students to learn from one another, collaborate, and exchange knowledge and innovative ideas in the fields of technology and informatics. In addition to academic activities, the program also introduced participants to the local culture of Surabaya, aimed at fostering cross-cultural understanding and strengthening friendships among participants from both countries. Through this combination of academic and non-academic activities, INTERNATICS is expected to provide a holistic learning experience while reinforcing sustainable international cooperation between ITS and Universiti Malaya.
The program was attended by 20 students from Universiti Malaya, accompanied by 25 students from ITS, comprising members of the FTEIC Student Executive Board (BEM) and volunteer buddies. The volunteers played a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the entire program, from picking up participants at Juanda International Airport, to accompanying them throughout academic sessions, to ensuring smooth mobilization between the hotel and activity venues each day.
During their time at the Department of Informatics Engineering, participants took part in a series of learning sessions covering current technology topics, including Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR), Cyber Security, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Through these sessions, participants gained direct insight into the latest developments in digital technology and its applications across various aspects of life. The activities at this department were also enriched by warm social interactions, including a Student Association Meet with the Informatics and Computer Engineering Student Association (HMTC) and a Game Day Volleyball session, which brought together Universiti Malaya participants and ITS students in a more relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Meanwhile, at the Department of Electrical Engineering, participants received material on the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as the concept of Design Thinking and its application in technological solution development. The activities at this department were further complemented by a laboratory tour, during which participants had the opportunity to directly observe facilities related to energy conversion, automation control, electronics, telecommunications, and capstone projects developed by ITS Electrical Engineering students.
Beyond these two departments, the INTERNATICS program also took participants to visit several other leading ITS facilities, namely the Robotics Building, the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM), the ITS Library, and the Research Center for Energy and Digital Industry (REIDI). During each visit, participants were introduced to the facilities, technologies, and various innovations and research outcomes being developed at ITS, offering a firsthand look at the university’s research and technological innovation ecosystem.
In addition to academic activities, participants were also invited to explore the city of Surabaya through a city tour that introduced local lifestyle and culinary richness, including the Surabaya City Lifestyle Experience and Taste of Indonesia Culinary Adventure. Through these activities, participants gained the opportunity to become more closely acquainted with the daily life of the Surabaya community, while sampling a variety of authentic Indonesian cuisine that formed an inseparable part of their cultural experience throughout the program.
The enthusiasm shown by the Universiti Malaya participants throughout the INTERNATICS program was notably high. They expressed feeling happy and excited to have gained a wealth of new experiences and knowledge, while also praising the various technological innovations developed at ITS, one of Indonesia’s leading institutions of higher education.
Through this Short Program INTERNATICS, FTEIC ITS hopes to build strong synergy with Universiti Malaya, both in the academic field and in cultural exchange. Furthermore, the program is expected to serve as an initial step toward broader collaboration in the future, such as joint research, student exchange programs, and other collaborative initiatives, thereby further strengthening ITS’s position as a globally competitive institution of higher education.
