Surabaya, ELECTICS ITS – The academic community of the Faculty of Electrical Technology and Intelligent Informatics (ELECTICS), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), has once again achieved a proud accomplishment, this time at INOVBOYO (Surabaya City Innovation) 2025. This annual innovation competition, organized by the Surabaya City Government through the Regional Development Planning, Research, and Development Agency (BAPPEDALITBANG), serves as a platform to appreciate innovative solutions contributed by various stakeholders for the development of Surabaya.
In the 2025 edition, INOVBOYO was attended by innovators from local government institutions, academia, and the general public, presenting ideas across public services, technology, environmental, and social sectors. Among all participants, the innovation presented by the ELECTICS team successfully advanced to the top six finalists and was showcased at the INOVBOYO exhibition held on 17 December 2025 at Balai Pemuda, Surabaya.

Beyond reaching the final stage, the ELECTICS team secured Second Place in the Social and Population category among the top six innovations. In addition, ELECTICS also received further recognition by being awarded as one of the Best/Favorite Exhibition Stands, reflecting strong public interest and appreciation for the innovation presented.
The innovation introduced by ELECTICS is entitled “ITS Synergy with Simokerto: Realizing Environmentally Friendly Innovation Aligned with the Presence of Kampung Pancasila in the City of Surabaya.” This initiative focuses on community-based waste management at the neighborhood/subdistrict level, developed in collaboration with Simokerto Subdistrict as a strategic partner.

The selection of Simokerto Subdistrict was deliberate. The area has demonstrated a growing level of community awareness regarding waste management, yet still requires additional innovation and support to ensure the system operates more optimally and sustainably. Through this collaboration, ELECTICS contributes innovative ideas and assistance to strengthen waste management practices at the community level.
The ELECTICS team representing this innovation consisted of Rio Tria Hardhitya, S.ST, a staff member of the Faculty of Electrical Technology and Intelligent Informatics ITS, along with Maulina Nur Laila and Aufaa Hafizhah Brarida, students from the Information Systems Study Program, ITS. This collaboration between academic staff and students reflects strong internal synergy within ELECTICS in delivering practical solutions to social and environmental challenges.
This achievement demonstrates that innovations built through collaboration between universities and local communities can generate meaningful impact while gaining recognition at the city level. The accomplishments at INOVBOYO 2025 are expected to inspire the ELECTICS academic community to continue contributing innovative, applicable, and sustainable solutions for the people of Surabaya.
