ITS FTIRS Holds Work Accident Investigation and Reporting Training for SMK3 Implementation

Surabaya, June 12, 2025 — The Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering (FTIRS) of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) held a training session on “Occupational Accident Investigation and Reporting” as part of the implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3) within the faculty.

The training took place on June 12, 2025, at the Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering. It was attended by lecturers, administrative staff, and student representatives from various departments under the auspices of the FTIRS. The training aimed to improve the academic community’s capacity to systematically identify, analyze, and report workplace accidents that occur on campus in accordance with standards.

The Dean of the FTIRS, Prof. Ir. Juwari, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., stated in his remarks that the implementation of the SMK3 is a top priority for creating a safe, healthy, and productive work environment. “This training is crucial so that all elements in FTIRS have the knowledge and skills to handle workplace incidents and are able to conduct objective investigations to prevent similar incidents in the future,” he said.

The training featured speakers from PT. Well Win Nusantara, who provided material on the stages of workplace accident investigation, root cause analysis techniques, and reporting procedures in accordance with the regulations of the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower.

Participants also participated in a simulated work accident investigation, where they were tasked with analyzing a real-life case and compiling a comprehensive investigation report as a form of hands-on practice.

This training is expected to empower all FTIRS members to play an active role in fostering an OHS culture on campus, supporting the comprehensive implementation of the OHSMS, and establishing ITS as a leading and competitive higher education institution in occupational safety and health.
