ITS has a strong commitment to provide high-quality graduates with sound academic background and strong personal grounding which will greatly assist them in their professions. This high standard is achieved through regular assessments to meet the requirements of high quality education.

At the end of 2005 ITS had 17,004 students, supported by 903 lecturers with the qualifications of 299 BSc, 457 masters and 147 doctors, among others, are 44 professors.

Study Loads

The study loads in ITS is called Satuan Kredit Semester or SKS.

• One credit point of lecture means:
  Working 3 activities per week: 50 minutes of lecture, 50-100 minutes structured activities, 50-100 minutes of self-academic activities

• One credit point of “responsive lecture” (tutorial) means:
  Working 2 activities per week: 50-100 minutes of scheduled lectures and 100 minutes of self activities.

• One credit point of laboratory/studio work means:
  Working tasks at laboratory or studio for 4-5 hours per week

The student study load per semester would be about 18 credit points. It means in a week, they would have 18 x 3 = 52 study hours per week or about 10 hours a day to study.
